The physics, as well as the whole concept look _very_ interesting. This might be really fun and unique.

I just don’t get, nor like all these vertical and horizontal lines. I think the graphics should be more jelly-like and less crayon-like ;)

    That looks absolutely horrible.
I’d rather play Across or something like that, the good ol’ drive around an insane physics devoid pseudophysics based environment is kinda old at this point.

Actually, you can play the game already. just check the site. there is a bèta somewhere over there

softbodies rock. there’s a nvidia demo about processing them most efficiently on the gpu, gotta dig into that…

thanks for the mention, and the comments!

the beta is available, there is a link to it on the fun-motion forum thread for the game.

As walaber was saying, the beta is out.

Change to BETA_03.rar, and it should work.

Anyway, nifty concept but it wasn’t as fun to play as I had hoped. Felt a bit too fast and random.

Also, using the Xbox 360 pad symbols in the PC-version is a really bad idea. The game concept is intuitive enough that I really shouldn’t have to go look at the readme to find out what keys to use.

Edit: With some balancing it could probably work very well, I’m still looking forward to seeing the finished version.

the game is designed to be played with a 360 controller, even on the PC… you get MUCH more control with the analog triggers, and analog sticks… so that’s why I decided to leave the prompts as 360 prompts…

what do you think should be changed about the game balance?

  13. fluffy bunny said,

    on September 23rd, 2007 at 1:35 am

Maybe it’s just the fact that I used a keyboard to play, because I didn’t like the way the controls worked (overly responsive & a bit random), and I felt that the gameplay was a bit too fast. I only played it briefly and uninstalled it yesterday, so I can’t really go into detail – all I can say is that I didn’t enjoy it as much as I had hoped.

As for the 360 Pad-thing, maybe the game could autodetect if there is a controller attached and change the title screen accordingly? Because right now, it’s _extremely_ user-unfriendly unless you have a 360-pad attached. Also there are loads of people who use other analogue controllers, like Dual Shocks (via cheap adaptors) on the PC.

The only thing that I disliked about the beta was that I had to reinstall the default drivers for it to recognize my controller. I normally use XBCD.

at around the factory level I found the physics and jelly-ness of the car to be frustrating

For anyone who’s interested in this game and doesn’t visit the forum, the fourth beta is out now.

There is a BIG Windows Vista bug. After dieing the game crashes for no reason. That really frustated me, please fix this problem.
Oh, and one more thing: It would be nice to be able to change the default key settings because I am using a keybord, where y and z are switched (yeah, my english is bad :P). And like someone already said, please make autodetection for gamepads, because playing games like this one with the keyboard isn’t a good thing.

    All in one 7/10
With bugfixes and stuff that I mentoined: 9.5/10
I like it! Keep it up! :-)

    Yeah, Beta 4 has autodetection.

Well, the gamepad autodetection doesn’t work for me (I am using a Thrustmaster gamepad)

    Version 1.0
    http://walaber.com/jello_car/JelloCar_v1_0_Windows.zip

    Next version should have:
    change keyboard
    save replays
    online high score table

So far I think Boulders level is impossible:
After pushing down the rock, there is not enough momentum to lift up to the next platform.

My current records are (my documents\jellocar\player1\gamesettings.xml):

Haven’t seen any updates in a while. This is a nice game to check out, thought you might find it interesting:
    http://heaven2ocean.darraghcoy.com/

Very simple game. Seems fun and well tuned. I liked that you changed the physical properties of your mass to get passed certain puzzles. I’m sure later levels (only played the first) can get really interesting.

I’ve been checking the fun-motion site a couple of times each day, waiting for the update. This game should keep me busy for a while ;)

I have registered on the Dare to be Digital website. I’m going to try some of the games, like: Evolution of a Man, Tag and Climbactic.
