The 2007 Independent Games Festival finalists have been announced! The full lists of finalists is available on the IGF website.

Special congratulations go out to the physics games in this year’s lineup:

  • Armadillo Run (nominated for Grand Prize, Design Innovation)
  • Blast Miner (nominated for Technical Excellence)
  • RoboBlitz (nominated for Grand Prize, Excellence in Visual Art)
  • Toblo (nominated for Design Innovation)
  • Toribash (nominated for Design Innovation)

I’m wrapping up the RoboBlitz review right now; it should be posted by the end of the weekend.

I thought it was a good game, but nay good enough to be a grand finalist. It just felt too fidgety, and really didn’t make any bounds in design innovation. It’s just The Incredible Machine and a bit of Bridge Builder.

Maybe I’m just bitter that the demo only had 5 or so levels, and they were all the same.

Armadillo Run is definitely one of the most addictive games I’ve played all year, and IMO it definitely deserves the IGF nominations.
