I asked the same question over at the Stick Page Portal forums, and got an interestingly uniform response (can you guess what it was?). But that is another discussion in itself.
I'm looking for ideas for physics-based minigames, perhaps involving a ragdoll or ragdoll physics, perhaps not. I thought it would be a good approach to imagine the kinds of things you might want to do with a ragdoll - what kinds of activities might be fun, what kind of objects would you interact with, what environments would you be in? Here's a good example: dodging spikes with a ragdoll. It's simple, but simple is good. Actually, simple is a lot better than complicated right now. Of course they don't have to involve actual ragdolls. Games like Gish where you control a physically-modeled blob are perfect as well. What else besides blobs and ragdolls could you control? Anyway, I'm trying to start a brainstorming session for physics minigames. Quantity over quality is what we want. If you have an idea, post it, even if it's not great. ![]() Begin the flood! |

I'd mess around with it with various explosives, and experiment with it in brutal ways. [Insert evil laughter here]. I don't just torture ragdolls though, I feel sympathy for them because of how much they get punished. Anyway, I'd do so many things with a ragdoll, it's not even funny, but the majority of them would include dropping them off high places :P

Something that you can't already do in Gmod. You can do the aforementioned things in Gmod.
If you could drop a ragdoll off someplace high and you could see in what ways in damaged their bodies (Losing of limbs, guts falling out, bones breaking, yes I am very sick someone please help me) then that would be cool. Same with throwing cars after them. |

i read some of the page you provided, and like the potion one. and making enviroments and messing with him. breaking buildings with a dude.......yeah. it'll be 2d if you make it ,right?

i would love to just have a room with a ragdoll and a bunch of grenades. that would satisfy everybody who likes killing, explosions, and killing with explosions
of course it would have to have bloody ragdoll pieces flying around too... |

I'd like to stare at him until he multiplies. Repeat this until there are about 3,235,374,344,764,985,438,056 of them. Then build a city out of there lifeless bodies, a utopia of sorts. Then use the left over bodies to make a gleaming bay outside of the dead people utopia, made out of ragdolls. Then I'd use some virtual wind to rise up the ragdoll-bay into a tidal wave that I would use to flood and destroy the ragdoll-topia. Then what would I have? Exactly what I started with.
Now if that wasn't your most creative/odd answer, I'd like see who's is. ![]()

When I was a kid all I wanted to do is jump my bike over a dirt mound, and build forts.
I can't believe my kids have to grow up in such a violent fucked up world where people have to sit on their fat ass's and molest a ragdoll for fun. Holy Shit Man! ![]() |

Thanks. The game would be pretty simple to construct. All you need is the basic most simplistic physics engine. Then the rest which wouldn't seem too hard to construct, but then again I have no idea.

yeah, im a kid, and i build forts and bike ramps, but i kill ragdolls in my spare time. oh, im not fat, im 87 lbs at 13 yrs old

I would play a game where you have smart 2d ragdolls with realistic AI. You could kill them and hurt them or you can see them interact with each other. Or it could be in 3D without stick figures. There would probably be lots more things to do though.

I had a vision of ragdolls + body painting: tossing 3D ragdolls with the mouse or setting up physical/"mechanical" ways of hurling them towards a canvas upon which full-body paint impressions of various colors can be left.

I thought of something like adavnced AI, I know it will be hard but this is my idea. Lets say an actor spawns in a room with a car, another group of ragdolls, a explosive barrel and a handgun. Maybe the AI actor chooses to destroy the other ragdolls by mowing them down with the car or shoots the explosive barrel with a handgun.
Another idea I gotten was a something simalar to Half Life 2's ragdolls where every ragdoll drawn is moved by the actual bullet. Such as if I get a headshot with and enemy it will fall backwards, realistcly. But if you shoot it in the legs it will get its legs pushed back but the top half will fall fowards. |
