Counter Strick? It's called Counter Strike. Do you know English?

Yeah... This would be excusable if you don't know English very well, but otherwise, you need some work.
I've got Half-life 2, Counterstrike Source, and Garry's Mod 10 (recently purchased). |

There's already a thread on Gmod. CSS isn't truely a physics game.

WHY? It uses the source physics engein.

Which has the physics of a modern NES game.
And physics games aren't games that simply use physics. Physics games are games that are centered AROUND physics. |

IMO the source engine is a great thing. and it's way better then a fucking nes game.. Good greif. |

Uh, chill. I meant that it's...mediocre. Like the NES game was 2 years since it was launched, now the Source engine is just as ...'incomplete'.
And I was more talking about things like bounding boxes and collisions, 'cause you can head-shot a person by shooting the AWP with room for error being like...2 metres... Anyways, I actually appreciate physics games that don't require much CPU power, because I don't have that kind of CPU power to give. That's why things like Elastomania and things I still appreciate. Oh, and you should know the Source engine is (or at least was) very ineffective and it needed huge amounts of CPU power for little things...I hear it still is, but I may be wrong... |

I think Half Life 2 was a very good game, and it had some pretty good physics elements in it. Didn't HL2 run in the Source engine? Also, the game Portal was source engine based I think, and it's quite physics-centered...

I kinda see what you're saying, but I have to agree with the fact that Physics games arent just games that have a [mediocre] physics engine or a subpar physics based puzzle somewhere in them: Physics games are CENTERED around physics.
Nonetheless, I still enjoyed Counter-Strike and Half-Life 2, even though I could kill my friends from around the corner with the hitbox issue. |

I'd say there's a definite difference between physics games and games that have physics implemented. The qualifications vary based on the prevalence of the physics engine during gameplay.

And in CS? NONE. Whatsoever.

Half-Life 2 is physics centered for puzzles and stuff like that in game. I love it! And please don't harass the source engine cause you can run HL2 on crappy computers! I play it maxed out (800x600) on a P4 wHT and a ati9200 with 512RAM. Source is great, its also constantly being modifyed so it looks better!

Hickster, you may be using a new patch for the engine. Like I said, when HL2 came out...about 2 months after, actually, I played it. And it slowed my computer (AMD Athlon 2400+, Geforce card dunno the specs just 128MB memory, 512 MB RAM, 9600 RPM on the HDD, etc, etc) even on 800x600 while on medium...
Now, I don't know how it is now, but the point is this: They aren't even using collisions for bullets and the like. They still use hitboxes. At least at the release, none of the objects were even disabled if they weren't moving, and put a heck of a lot of load on the GPU and RAM... Anyway, to that person who metioned Portal. Now there's an actual (basic) physics game. Yes it runs on the Source engine. No, not on the same one as HL2 or CS:S. Until someone implements collisions instead of hitboxes, and generally makes the load of the engine lower, I'm going to think of it as an incomplete engine...an inefficient engine... |

OK, this is aimed at the grammar/English Nazis at the top of the thread :
You do realize that there is a very high chance that some people who come here aren't from an English speaking nation, right? OK, enough said. |

you're* english* it's* /grammar nazi That's really not that big of an excuse. I come from Romania and learned English on my own and I speak good enough to converse regularly with a guy from England. I don't say 'You need to speak as good as I do.', but more like 'Look at what I corrected, and learn from your mistake.' That means you're supposed to use "you're" not "ur", english not enaglish...it's not its. So yeah, me being a grammar nazi doesn't mean I'll make fun of you or go all dumb and ask "What's a [misspelled word]?", it means I'll show you what you did wrong, so you can learn from it. /end-sort-of-rant I just installed CS:S and I won't run again =\ And HL2 keeps giving me an error...I need a new computer.. =\ |

I like you. Thumbs up!
I've got all of those games, however I haven't played them in like... 2-3 months. I've always liked playing around with physics, so when I heard about Gmod I almost shat myself! ![]() |
