Somewhat of a review of the game:

"... and the developer also plans to add more levels, and he's thinking of adding one free level each week."

Sounds very interesting.

Wow, it's been a long time since I've been back on these forums. Searched for my old post just for kicks and after reading a bit decided I may as well give an update.

I've never stopped working on Krashlander from the time I made the first post in this thread. Just changed platforms a bit and went down a few dead-ends. :-)

I released a so, so version of the game to Wndows Phone. Here it is in the Windows Phone Marketplace

Well, as you probably know, not many people have Windows Phones so I'm now at the tail end of a complete port/re-write of the game for iOS. It'll be a Universal app and should be out early fall if all goes well.

What about a desktop version? Well, truth be told, I think a desktop version would be the most fitting platform for Krashlander. I'm still itching to do a desktop version, but priority one is to try and make enough money to work on this stuff full-time and mobile seemed the best bet for that right now.

I toy with the idea of doing a Mindcraft style release with a paid alpha to help fund the game, but not sure it'd work for Krashlander.

Anway, that's my update. Good to see these forums still kicking!

When the game is closer to ready I'll come back and request some beta testers. Anyone here have an iOS device?

If interested, here are all my Krashlander vids in one place:

Are you talking about level #13? If so, do it like this

Probably won't be more levels on the current Windows Phone version as the code-base there is messy.

With some luck, though, the new iOS version will be easily ported to Windows Phone in which case there will be MANY new levels.

BTW, thanks for playing the game.

Coming soon.

What kind of iOS device(s) do you have?

Who else has an iPhone and/or iPad and what version/generation is it?

If you leave your email and type of iOS device, I might be able to give out some promo codes.

What about android? I mean, I understand why you didn't make an IOS version right away, but I really don't see why you didn't make an android one. Android apps are still the ones that sells the most.

From all my research (surfing the web) I get the impression people are still making more money off iOS games than Android. The gap does seem to be closing, though.

If I had more time I'd release to every platform I could. I do hope to eventually get the game on Android.

Just finished creating a launch trailer for the iOS version of Krashlander.

Love to hear what you think.

Krashlander - Official Trailer (Updated with correct release date in video)

If you do have an iOS device, Krashlander will be available in the AppStore on Feb 7th, 2012.

If you don't have an iOS device, hang tight. I want to get this out to as many platforms as possible... just need time.

-Jeff

Just a recent example to prove you wrong. Believe me, with such a game you'll make undoubtedly more money. (taking into the account that android development cost is much lower than IOS or WP).

Also I really wanna play it. Please.

@akuryo

Thanks for the link. I think I actually read that already. Trust me I'll eventually get this ported to Android. It's developed using Unity3D so the port should not be too difficult. Biggest obstacle right now is time. I do my game development in my spare time and there isn't a lot of that. I'll get there though...

Side note: I updated the vid with the correct launch date.

I totally understand that, just wanted to point that an android port might be worth the trouble.

Keep it up

It's great, I already passed all the levels, too bad there was just 20 of them, I hope new ones are coming soon as promised. Game's amazing, controls are smooth and precise, the character doesn't feel stiff or something like in Santa's Slippery Slope, landing multiple flips is easy and simple.
However there's one thing. Often when I slide after losing my skis and I already think I should make it to the Evil Robots I always end up hitting some invisible thing that knocks me up (on a fully flat surface) and quite much stops me. Not sure if it was intended (to make it a lot harder to get to the target after losing the skis) or it's just a bug but it feels weird. Such thing never happened when I had my skis on though.

Anyways You did a great work and I hope to see updates soon.

Thanks ego5000. Glad you like it. Really tried to get the controls to feel right. I plan to fix the issue you mention about hitting invisible obstacles when sliding down a slope. It's because all the body parts of krashlander use rectangles with sharp corners for their collision detection. The sharp corners sometimes get "stuck" on the landscape surface.

Will try to fix in next update.

Also, more levels will definitely be coming. I have a lot of plans for this game.

BTW, for those who have an iPad, iPhone, or iPod, you can get the game now. Here is the linke to the US AppStore version.

Found another one. Green World, level 1. Feels like there's some invisible object right behind you. Try to preform a backflip immediately after you spawn. It usually ends up in the krash-guy getting a heavy kick in the back.
