Default Avatars/Image Sigs

While I'm not so fussed about not having images in my sig, will we eventually have avatars? Either they've been deactivated or my computer is being dumb.

I thought it was on by default--I'll check into that today.

I think avatars are generally disabled as default in most forum software. Its usually because there's potential hacking vulnerabilities.

I think custom-uploaded avatars should be enabled now. I may enable signature images at some point, but if I do they'll have some serious size restrictions. I like my signatures small and to the point

2 changes you should make, Matt. 1, let GIFS as avatars. 2, Enable quick reply any time. That would be better I think.

I don't really care for animated avatars or sig-pics, personally... I generally like somewhat minimalist forums, so you don't end up with tons of garish posts all over the place.

I'm not bothered about gifs, I think people should be able to use them, but just stick to showing people that I love Radiohead...

Yikes, old thread. He never did get around to animated avatars, though. Did he? I guess he just decided against it?

No harm, I suppose. The discussion is still ongoing, I guess, since Matthew never said anything about it.

I wish we had them, but a lot would have to be weeded out, since you can't really filter uploaded images automatically. Plus it could really kill bandwidth in the long term with long animated "movies."

Sorry to bump, and double post, but I can confirm that IMAGES IN SIGNATURES ARE NOW ALLOWED. At least they are for me... look at my new signature for proof.

WOOOOOOO!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! yes thank you Matthew, thank you finally all my userbars won't go to waste.

Nice userbar Maltor I was going to make a fun-motion one but decided not to because I couldn't find a good image for it, but you pulled it off.

Edit: It must be only available for moderators right now because its not working.

Thanks, it took a while, but I've made quite a few userbars in my time with Photoshop, so it was fairly easy. I used the F-M logo from the front page of the site, by the way. Just paint bucketed the transparency in with a tolerance of 10-15 (If you use Photoshop), as the normal background was black and white.

I can give you the edited image if you want. Just name your transparency supporting file format.

EDIT: @ZERO's edit: Really? That sucks... Let me check again. Sorry for raising your hopes, people..

EDIT2: Odd, it is still working fine for me... did you try IMG code? Or uploading an image onto the site? Let me post a pic of what it looks like for me...

Here you are:

Only for moderators. I'm fine with that. All the mods should use the "Fun-Motion moderator" userbar so we can actually tell who is one.

Also reduced eye-loadedness, so I don't have to disable signatures for myself completely to not be assaulted with pictures.

I suppose, although I still apologize to everyone for getting their hopes up. Sorry.

I tend to keep a minimalist signature, but if this would be helpful, I will certainly add it to my signature. Do we want to get TGP and CX on board, too?

ya actually I would like the image to use, since you did a good job on it. you should be able to give it to me as a PSD (photoshop image) since The Gimp supports it (I wish I had photoshop).

There is one small thing that bothers me about your userbar, its just the text isn't centered (vertically) on the bar, but if it looks best in your opinion just keep it.

Yes, in userbars, I generally prefer the text to be hovering off the bottom, it looks sleeker in my opinion, but that's just me. Also, I unfortunately was editing one of my old userbars to make this more quickly, and forgot to save it as a PSD, only as a PNG, which doesn't support layers (meaning it's near useless for editing purposes). Sorry.

Also, Cyranix, I'll send you the IMG code.

Thats alright I tend to do it that all the time. I created a sig image in the hopes of soon being able to use it.

The space under the motion seams empty.
