I'm not sure whether or not this is a full game or an arcade game but either way it's for the Playstation 3 and uses physics to get through each level. Unfortunitally the reported release date is Q1 2008 which is a shame since I was looking forward to playing it. So far this is the only video out for it but it's enough for me to want it.

Both, the House and Littlebigplanet look VERY cool... I can imagine myself first chatting with friends (or some random ppl) in House-world, and then search for some people to play Littlebigplanet with me :D... Oh and if the furniture you can get to your house is free, or buyed with points you get in games (well practically free), I WILL make chair and tablepiles :D ('cause as you can see, House has some nice physics).... I think House (or atleast open beta) will be out in fall, and I think the Lbp (littlebigplanet) will be out in fall too... And i hope :D...

I love this game. I am thinking of buying a PS3 when we get the money. Its a shame nothing like this comes to Xbox 360. If I was a game developer that is what I would of done. Made a revolutionary sim game with another "Little Big Planet.

Kinda the opposite situation for me... I see how much more advanced games are getting over the years, and I keep thinking how much harder it would be to get familiar with all the advanced technology, if I were ever to take a serious interest in programming. I definitely wouldn't want to program a physics engine, because I'm sure it would require some scientific knowledge about real-world physics.

Its not exactly 2D, didn't you notice that the characters could go a bit back into the background and back? You can walk around blocks etc... Watch the end of the Pirate Trailer when one of them walks around a block. you can walk about 3 sackboys back into the background.

Not a good idea, but each level's price is determined by its creator. If it stays like that, it's not a big deal. You wanna give your levels for free? There you go. You wanna charge them... 10 euros each? Don't wonder if no one ever plays them. I mean, they leave the whole charging thing up to the players. Whine about charging? Make quality maps and always share them for free. On the other hand, if there's a minimum price for each uploaded level, then we've got a problem here and i'm finally gonna say "Guess LBP was too good to be true"... And of course, Sony will get 3% or more (the percent is random) of every user's profit... and maybe give some "extras" to the best creators out there (the ones that make more profit) to keep the wheel turning :eek:

I still see that as a bad idea, though when people protest by not buying the levels, creators will hopefully re-release them for free.

If what the guy said is true about only good creators being able to ask money for them, then it's a bit of a relief indeed, should make sure there aren't any shitty levels buyable. Or at least have a bit of a security that that doesn't happen alot.
I wouldn't mind if you could, for example, buy a pack of levels for a few euro's (Lets say 2 > 5 euro's or something, in total).

Problem beeing is that I can't loan my dad's CC and there arent any paypal / prepaid card options for the Netherlands yet.

Experienced makers which have been qualified by.. Someone. MM or Sony, I guess. So there will probably be very few level makers who CAN ask money for their levels, and on the top of that, all of them probably won't.
ALSO, the levels won't be more than an one euro, my guess would go to 5-20 cents.
STILL the idea is the most stupid idea for a while, yet STILL the actual game is maybe the most interesting and awesomesuasodasd this year.

Yeah, I just pointed that out on my previous post. Probably only like 1-5% of all the levels will cost you something, and even then, it will be probably something like 20cents.

Even if theres about 100 Maps that are not free, thats about 20 Dollars and msot of them probably aint that good so you dont need them... Also, i think they pay the money to your PSN account so you'd only be able to buy PSN items with the money, Kind of useless unless you buy mods and shit

As I said, there will be only few level makers that can price their levels. The makers have to be especially chosen by MM or Sony, I dunno, so there will probably be only 10-20 of them.

Alright, upon closer inspection on my suspicion of Fluid Physics.
I do believe I've confirmed it.

While this may just be REALLY REALLY REALLY good texture work, I don't believe it is.

I saw in the last couple of videos, that when they crashed through some icy-looking blocks, they broke.
Leaving a tiny bit of mist, that swirled accurately when it came into contact with another object.
It was hard to see, because it was faint mist, and the video was streaming, and thus incredibly compressed...

I found ANOTHER video though, where the sack boys decided to hop into a car, and ride over a flaming road. I'm not sure if the FIRE is actually physically simulated, but the smoke that comes off of the car, in-contact with the fire, looks to be physics driven.


Sorry for a "too-long" post.
But here's the video with the smoking car in it.
Fast-forward to around 20 seconds, to see a block being lifted and dropped onto a fire, which shows some fairly dynamic smoke.
Fast-forward to around 25 to see the sack boys riding on a "bull-car", and watch the smoke that comes off of them, pretty clearly dynamic.
Also watch all of the fire, it seems... Stylized, but still dynamic.

That is a very good idea...the F-M group should do that when the game comes out...we should use the http://www.fun-motion.com/forums/images/funmotion/header.gif logo but take out the edges and then every LBP group member will have their own Name Logo....It will be perfect.

I like the fact the MediaMolecule doesnt keep its potential customers in the dark by telling us about most of the features theyve developed whenever they can rather than saying, We "Hope" to have this done.. Or, we "Think" we may have this done on time... Also, I think that if we do get that FM levels idea up and running, we'll have to ask where the font for the FM logo can be found so we can make the Authors name in the same sort of style

Hmm...good question...but I would say....at the beginning of the level you say Fun-Motion LittleBigPlanet Group or something like that and you say by (FUN-MOTION NAME).....and at the end you say created by (PSN TAG/ID)

But, I just thought of that in like two minutes so...if you have something better, tell us.

How bout some sort of Rigid-Body F-M Logo? So one person makes it to fit the Picture then sends the object to other people to use in there levels, could even be some sort of trap using it... Press the wrong button and "WHAM" you get hit by the Fun-Motion logo lol

Indeed, and I pre-ordered it from there cause it's alot cheaper that way (~55 euros delivered, 70 euros here in Finland).

Why cant every company be like this? Rather then give u 1 trailer that has rendered and Animated stuff in (No in-game footage, basically) They give ulike 30 which are ALL gameplay (Apart from added in effects, Dream Trailer E.G)

How bout a huge Toribash the has its head pinned to the background, and U can push buttons to rotate its Limbs :P

the xbox 360 and ps3 is hardly any better then the standard pc, ok so the parts inside are leading edge, but only until tomorrow, meaning the pc will always be cutting edge so people can enjoy games like this longer...

i have a ps3, and im so tired of ps3 fanboys thinking just because little big planet is coming out, justifies the ps3s existence...

this game could have easily come out on the 360, so i doubt they will let the last game they have thats worth a dam slip through their fingers...

You do understand that you need a brand new computer to emulate PS2, so it'll be a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time until we have computer that can emulate PS3 or X360 properly.
Also, I saw no fanboyism in Treacle's post.
