at least add an off-topic section. sometimes i want to say so many things! but i forget, i got to stay on topic, and there's no other place where i can speak my mind. -.- i think there should be at least an off-topic section.

To be honest, I don't need an offtopic section. I think the forums are perfect. But ofcourse it's good to have place where you can talk about anything. I change my "no" to "agree"

justin is right, there may be other forums out there but none of them has the same mix of people as this one does.
It would be nice to have an off-topic forum, then we can dedicate the physics game forum to JUST physics games instead of randomly going off topic just because you wanted to say something.
So when people goto the physics games forums, they see physics games threads.

Glad someone finally posted this. Agreed, we definitely need an off-topic forum.

"finally"?

Not really. My arguments are in the other threads, go read.

Is it possible to have moderators create a forum at all? In all of the forums I have been moderator of I have never seen anything saying I could...

I think moderators are more on the deleting and control side of things and not on the creating side. So I guess we will have to beg matthew

That's what I figured.

Not that anybody cares anymore, but i will say it anyways: I agree to this proposal. For example we could make the man of the month thread.

Agreed. I've been dying to make that. That way one of the new mods can sticky it as well.

I think this forum definitely needs an off-topic section, or even just a General section. A lot of the posts in the Physics Games area go WAYYYYYY off-topic and Its annoying to read through all of it to get to the on-topic parts.

I agree, there should be a "General" or "Off topic" section ^_^ Most forums have them, so this one should too.

There should also just be a games section because not every good game is physics based. And maybe a forum game section.:)

That idea falls down a bit, you see this is a physics games forums.
You wouldn't see music on a 3d animation forum so why should you see normal games on a physics forum. We don't want this to become a all round forum O.o too hard to manage.

I guess thats true. But a random talk would be appreciated.:)

No, if you search on google on "physics games" FM comes up at the top. When I first joined FM it did not have a forum and was waaay smaller than it is now. FM is where it is because there is no other good PHYSIC BASED GAME forum. Lets keep it that, or else it will just become another forum with a little physics...

yay! i made a good suggestion! i think we need to make this section so we can say what we want to say, and post any type of topic not related to physics games. that way we don't get off-topic on something then get in trouble.

Oh, and also. Considering this would fall under the topic of going off-topic, I have prepared two cautionary pieces of material:

This can be used to warn of a soon to be flamewar:

This can be used as a friendly reminder for people to get back on topic:

http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p254/Maltor124/Backontopicfolks.jpg

Feel free to host 'em yourself and use to your hearts content. I figure these will help readers better see that they are going off-topic or help others stay clear of a soon to be flamewar before they go any further. It's more noticeable and fun to see than someone saying "Back on topic, please." or "Ugh, a flamewar..."

Hope I helped. :D

And still:

OFF-TOPIC PLEASE.

I previously disagreed to making an off-topic forum.

I change my mind.

OFF TOPIC PLEASE.

Hay I'm back after a short Fun-motion vacation, well mostly a study for my finals vacation (look at that I'm already off-topic). Obviously I agree, we need to be able to go off-topic and not feel bad about it.

Speaking about off topic chat. Heres a web chat thing for fun-motion members. Go to http://webchat.xs4all.nl then go to chat channels and select others. Type in "#fun-motion" (without the quotations). Use your fun-motion name so I recognize you. See you there.

If you're going to go and make an IRC channel, read around please... I already have one going. #fun-motion on quakenet, with L already there, yet even though I posted it countless times, no-one wants to use it. :\

Off-Topic section! For all our pointless needs! We can frolic in meadows and have politics flamewars and angry discussions about religion and awkward silences!!! Wait. That doesn't sound fun. Oh well, we still need an Off-Topic Section! Because it's better than spam!
