I say you remove the post count when you can, because it'll get in the way.

What I mean is you'll get newbs posting a lot then saying "oh l00k i huv h1gh psot count111!1!1!"

It gets annoying. Just my suggestion, feel free to deny it. =D

PS. Yeah, I know it's useful sometimes, but I think it's better this way...

On Fun-Motion some one said to Matthew "Look at my post count it is the highest, it is a real picture". He only had 12 posts, big deal it is just a newly started forum.

Yeah remove it now before the spammers come.

YEAH! that would be good. I've seen some other forums go from cool to pathetic all because the only thing anybody ever cared about was their post count. It will also let new members feel less "newbish"

MAtthew, I think almost the whole forum has the same opinion now: No postcounts!

Post counts are good on some forums, but it just doesn't feel right in this forum.

I like having a post-count.
It's got nothing to do with trying to prove my status, it's just interesting to me, I like to keep track of that sort of thing.
If it is removed, perhaps it could be made available only to the user and not to the public?

Bobo00711

No, delete the post count! No public count too.

If you want to now your number of post, take a piece of paper and each post, you add 1...and then you see how much post you have

You could have it display in your personal profile, but even so...

You can do something like a search on your username to see how many you have. But the pro's greatly shadow the con's...

Post count should be personal, that noone exept yourself could see it.

Good idea, eh?

Edit:

Oh. I just read that post above mine, it has the same idea I had :(

At most forums I sit there and i think *well done, you have 50,000,000 posts, loser*

So i'm all for this.

Post count should be removed or personal.

I also find it interesting, and the way this forum is going, I don't see very much elitism rising.

I'm all for post counts on this forum. Other forums (like Bungie.net *cough cough* (http://www.bungie.net/Account/Profile.aspx?memberID=452029)), I'm glad there is no post count. The majority of users are completely stupid.

Just for the sake of arguing...Though I don't care either way if it's removed or not.

Do you people want it removed JUST because of people who use it as a high post count-whore?

Or can you dig deeper to find more reasons?

I like post counts, It shows how much time I invest in the forum. If a spammer is spamming, delete his posts, or disable his post count!

That's the exact reason people want to remove post counts. Because it makes some people feel 'better' than others, just because they have a higher post count. I really don't mind either way, but I think it would be best if we a choice.

Does it really matter if someone gets an ego boost from having a big number next to their name? It's not my fault they get an ego-kick from a number.

I think we should keep it.

There's a spammer posting for a high post-count?! Oh look! There's a couple mods! Let's ask them to delete his posts post and we'll all be saved!

What more reason do you need?

What more reason do you need?

An actual reason to take away post count. Taking them away just because of the thought that some people might say "OMG I HAVE HIGHER POST COUNT STFU!" is kind of silly. If they do this, then that's their problem and their loss. Just delete the post or topic or ban them. Getting rid of post count for everyone because of this isn't a top of the line reason.

I agree with the idea we should make it personal, not remove it.

Defenitaly make it personal, so that you can tell weather or not a person is a n00b, but they will be less inclined to brag about it.
