This is a great RTS, with a great use of physics. It's really the closest thing you can possibly get to a "sandbox RTS" these days. It's a remarkable game, both of them are, but especially B&W2.

Black & White 1, from my knowledge. Was more popular because there was more creatures, it was more free-flowing, and there wasn't some graphic bugs.

I'm really looking froward to playing the sequel thou!

I have so much fun, saving my game (or going into "The Gods Playground") and destroying all the inhabitance!

It's the funnest RTS game I have ever played! You're mad, if you don't find great and vast fun in this game!

i thought the game was okay overall. the physics were geat, but the camera controls were just too fussy for me, what with all the zooming in and out trying to find a person.

ever since we started talking about B&W in the RTS Physics Games thread, i started playing it again, i stopped because i was getting a little bored, but im so into it now! It's so much fun to be able to do anything you want, when im bored i just pick up one of my extra citizins and throw him! Its also hilaarious to see your pet doing stuff, like popping on your villagers, pighting trees on fire and throwing them at enemies, picking up rocks, weightlifting them, then chucking them into the other side of the island. I've been playing the game mainly with a goodness attitude, trying to build my cities on impressiveness and see how good they become, because i personally think its easier that way :p If you get it and you ever get bored, there are countless mods which enhance the experience, a good site i recommend is http://blackandwhite2.filefront.com/

i havent played the first one yet, and i have yet to ge the expansion, but its seriously endless fun.

There was this one game that kinda used physics caled Clonk, its rlly fun and its an RTS but witout any opponetnt, still my fave. Google it, u can get it for free.

It got boring for me, I couldn't be bothered to do the missions, so when the story got going I just gave up and now the game is gathering dust under the stairs (it was on £2.50 anyways). But I thought at the time "Crap game, good physics).

ah yes, black and white. This is one of my most played games but I don't think I got anywhere. I loved the physics, just throwing rocks on village people or walls. *evil laugh*

I got both of these, they're great! :D Throwing boulders at walls and people is insane amounts of fun!
And has anyone ever played arond with the Lionhead Logo when you start up B&W 2? Some good physics there as well

Somehow, I felt that loinhead made a very engaging game by accident here... I think that the fact that Black & White became so popular is a bit of a fluke.

I say this because all of us are saying "It was so cool smashing buildings with rocks and throwing people around", which is true, but the actual game its self isn't very fun, and if you took out the ability to smash buildings and stuff it would be pretty crap.

Yah, im not sure if they meant to make it crapy on PURPOSE, but either way the game itself sux rlly bad.. but its rlly fun to pick up ppl and throw them, or jsut throw things around (try to juggle, its rlly hard)

No no no, you misunderstand, I didn't mean that lionhead made a shit game on purpose, i'm saying that they made a good game by accident... Like you said "I loved thowing people around and juggling them". Do you think Lionhead thought, "Hmm, well, the game sucks but at least they can throw rocks and stuff"? Of course not, black and white was a total fluke.

I actually beat this game awhile ago. I got it delivered with my new computer (that was new back then) and played through the story. I didn't think it was that bad as some of you say, I liked because it was so slow, you didn't have to hurry all the time. and the there was all these side-quests that you could do!

Did you know by the way that if you press a button (i think it's N or something) you can see some of the villagers names. If you use Outlook, some of the names of people in your inbox might appear. Also, some of the people from the credits appear sometimes. I actually threw the game producer (Peter Molyneux) over a mountain...

Patch to the latest version, I have Windows XP and B&W 1 works just fine.

Also, the first one has an logo physics demo too. I actually liked it better than the second one!

Yes B&W 2 has a sandbox place! There's also some nice, user created sandbox maps.

I wouldn't say B&W or B&W2 were bad games at all. They were just very slow paced, like DJ said, but that doesn't mean its a bad game. I don't necessarily like the way the game's controls work, but I think it's still a great game.

Number 2? Number 1 should work just fine! As for a cheap place to get it, I would recommend amazon.com. This is a six year old game, I myself would call it abandonware...

Heh, i know what you mean...Trees falling without reason, (or does your rampaging pet/creature count as a reason?) and let's not forget my rampaging creature, whos favourite hobbies was to eat people, throw people, poo on people and eat the peoples sheeps. But he was cute!

I always thought the creature was the most pointless part of the Black and White games.. It would have been fun to just be a God and NOT have your 'pet' rampaging and destroying everything, or just being annoying. Although it did save many of my armies and towns with its Claws of Doom.

What I did was I trained my creature to be 100% Good (except for the world outside my city, where he regularly takes out his aggressions on invading Japanese armies). Then, I went and did construction and whatever else I wanted to do. That way, nothing bad happens and I get to do... stuff! Also, why is it possible for my Creature to be 94% fat and 100% fit?

seriously, if you can get our creature strong enough and get miracles for him, he can take on all your invaders, also, just make walls and put some archers on, if theres no way for invaders to get in, they'll just stand there while getting shot by archers.

B&W 1 was friggin ugly. Maybe I'll try the second one again :D
