I've played Postal 2 with AW7 Mod, and Toribash, but is there something that will satisfy my violence fetish?? lol... I love slaughtering Uke in Toribash, and It's fun to mess around with the physics there, but can someone recommend something different? And don't say I'm too young for this. :P I'm 12..

Yikes.....a 12 year-old with a violence fetish? Gotta love the internet, and it's mind poisoning effects. GO FREE LIVING!
Anyways, in the way of physics games, gore is rather limited, at least as far as free games. You've pretty much mentioned all of the ones I can think of.
Except for Halo 3. :p *Runs off to play Beta......again.*

I'm shure a 12-year-old should be playing postal 2... If I were your parents I certainly wouldn't allow it... "Don't say i'm not old enough i'm 12"?!
But i'm not your parents sooo, Postal 2 is VERY violent...err, Doom 3 is quite bad...um, try the RealMatter public demo you'll probably like that... err... The Punsisher game (got ragdoll physics and you can do some very horrible things in that...like feeding someone through a wood-chipper feet first) Carmageddon II where you can run people over and thier legs and arms come off... The soldier of fortune series? I know it hasn't really got physics in it but it's still quite violent... The lastest Mortal Kombat game is very good and has got some graphic viloence in it...
If fact, I just think your looking for violent things in general, so I think I'll name a few violent films...
Evil dead, Braindead, Audition, Itchi the Killer, Sin city, Passion of the Christ, Taxi Driver, The Thing, Suff, I Spit on Your Grave, The Excorist...
Does this satisfy your need for the violence, or do you have to agree with me that 12-year-olds should not be veiwing this sort of thing and should not even know what postal 2 is... Coz I have a problem with it, but I might as well show this guy how bad violence can get so maybe he'll realize that it's not really a thing to crave...
Or have I gone too far this time?

I'd say you pushed it a bit there recommending him Ichi the Killer and I Spit On Your Grave. There's loads of rape in them films. They'd have scarred me for life back when I was 12. No harm in him playing violent games at the age of 12 though. I grew up on the Mortal Kombat series. I wonder what he thinks about the humour in Postal 2, which is a big part of it for me.
You should probably give Dark Messiah of Might and Magic a shot. It's pretty gory, has dismemberment, and uses the Source engine. Seems they use the same modified version of Havok that Valve used in HL2 as the wood breaking effects are very similar. Also, enemies can ragdoll before they die, which is really fun.

Exactly, this is my point, I don't think 12-year-olds should have a craving for this sort of thing, getting exposed to these sort of things is seriously not healthy, it'll make make him/her want more of it, until eventally he's/she's watching shockumentaries like...........actually I better not say that..........
12 is not old enough, trust me, it's not old enough watch 15-rated films and play 15-rated games if you want violence... Not Postal 2.......

Agreed, a 12 year old should NOT be playing Postal 2. But I think you've made him feel like he's a freak of nature or something now, for liking violence....

I've played violent games since I was a kid, but a violence FETISH just freaks me out.
I think if younger kids are mature enough, it's okay to be playing violent games, but if you're enjoying stuff like this to the point where you get sexual enjoyment out of it, it's probably time to put the controller down and find a better way to occupy your time.

I agree with the point about maturity, but if this person has a FETISH (sexual desire or 'preference') for this sort of thing then you have to agree that this kid is messed up and shouldn't be playing these games because he's/she's not mature enough to cope and deal with the material...

Oh, like on that show 'Dirty Sanchez'... Nasty! It probably won't come to that...
...Anyway, I just want to warn him not to 'love' (;)) this level of violence, liking a bit of violence and ragdoll in games is fine but don't go out looking for it to fill your time or you WILL, eventually be looking out for things like 'Shockumentaries'... Which I hope to god you don't do.

My guess is he just mis-used the word fetish, heck he may not even know what it actually means.
And i think its okays for him to play violent games rather than watching em films. Movies are always alot worse, and in games you can control the level of violence to your own desire and limit. Like, you can choose to cut the guy in half, or just shoot him.

Your all getting overboard. Postal 2's violence is just like San Andreas's, it may have features such as head decapitation but the game is based on a funny level, such as the start of the demo of Postal 2 the main character says "Where's the milk, there it is" and the ragdolls in Postal 2 are not so good. Saint's Row has some of the best ragdolls put in a Open World game.
A violent game is Gears of War, movable and decapitation corpses. If you find anything explosive they will explode to 8 pieces or more. There is a bit of blood stains but most of all the blood that comes when you chainsaw.
I would say movies have 2 or 3 times more violence than games because they are usually based on real life.
By the way I just turned 13 last month.
TheSloth
05-18-2007, 11:33 PM
You're right about the ragdolls in Saint's Row. In fact, I love the physics in that game in general. Everything seems to have the correct weight.
Back when I was 12/13, I played PSX games and there were very few 18's... probably because of the crude graphics. I've noticed there's a greater proportion of 18-rated games on the Xbox 360 than previous generations of consoles. 8-10 years ago, the only 18-rated games you'd see would be FMV-based games on the PC or 3DO, or the BUILD engine games (Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior, Blood) which often had plenty of gore and a similar dark sense of humour to Postal 2. Oh yeah, the first Postal game was out then too. Again, that was most likely an 18 due to the subject matter than the actual violence. The Mortal Kombat games were equally as gory but because of the lack of other adult content, they were rated as 15+ (up until Mortal Kombat 4 and onwards). If I was a parent of a 12 year old, I'd have to think hard about letting them play Saint's Row because of the sex and drug content. I'd have no problem with letting them see a bit of gore, it did me no harm, I watched Braindead at the age of 12 haha. Then again, some of the horror films I watch now would leave a 12 year old crying for his mum.

What?! That's so random...
A 12-year-old might not properly understand and take in the material of games like Postal 2, there are alot of jokes aimed at more mature andiences and some methods of killing are very very disgusting and graphic, yes it's a funny game, but it's encouraging the viewer to do ever more offencive and gross things at a vaunrable age.
BTW: LOL! Braindead when you were 12?! It's quite a funny film though...

What is so random about Garbage in, Garbage out? Im just saying that if you put bad things into your mind, you are bound to have bad things result. If you were to watch people being executed day after day, sooner or later it would cease to have an effect and thus you would become desensitized to it. Killing would become a normal occurence and quite possibly you would have the capability to do things that may have been out of your actual range earlier.

The reason why Postal 2 is quite funny is because of the low-quality of it. The game was really low-budget but it's still funny seeing all the gore :\. Anyway, I grew up in Russia, MOTHERLAND lol, and I don't whack off. And sorry for the wrong wording, I meant fetish as I was bored and wanted to see the most obscene, most violent game ever and watch in shock and awe. I thought fetish meant that you wanted to try it out or have it or need it. I don't get sexual enjoyment out of it, I just wanted to see the craziest thing ever because I don't get offended easily. Plus, I've tried all of your games :D. And come on. You're all being mindless Jack Thompson clones acting like you've never heard of a 12-year old play violent games. Postal is like San Andreas, you just kill which is very repetitive and nobody screams like "OH HELP ME GOD!".. I'm perfectly normal, get good grades, and I've been living with this stuff, it's no shock to me because I've seen all of these things. I'm not going to turn into a killer. Violent games don't make you into a killer, they just make you become more used to this stuff so you don't act like OMG HOLY *@#& when you see it. I understand what's going on in these games. I'm smart for my age and know quotes from movies and such things because I've seen everything that has a popular cult following or is made fun of by Internet phenomenons. Plus, you guys have never misused a word?
Maltor124

Meh. This should be deleted. It's gone too far into the Jack Thompson realm. I don't agree with M-Rated games at 12, but it's his and his parents choice. Just because everyone is flaming him and saying he'll more than likely end up a killer/rapist/murderer, etc. blah blah, won't make him stop playing if he wants to play those games.
And earlofnim, you basically just said you are already desensitized to violence, so take cover.
Anyways, guys, keep suggesting games, instead of trying to get him to stop playing, it's obvious he'll sstill play them anyway. (Still dying... :D )

If he's thinking what I think he is. Believe me, you don't want to see it.
Anyways. Postal 2 is rated to be violent because of the random violence that occurs. Heck, he goes and kills people for reasons not so ...well...real, and it became "Rated Mature".
However, in my case, I played Postal 2 when I was 7. It was the break I needed. Afterwards, I didn't really need more violence. It was a phase. Which I get really...often.
Gory physics game?...Try Punisher. Pretty gory things there.

Being desensitized to violence isn't always terrible... if you were in a car accident and someone was given a huge gash and stuff, it would be easier to stay calm and give medical attention if you were less scared. Also, surgeons and nurses cut people open quite a bit, which would have the same effect.
Anyway, CC is a good one. Also the RealMatter demo.

My God, this thread has gone even further off-topic than WW3 Ragdolls did. At least we were talking about things that were legal. He was not asking for movies in his first post, he has not edited his first post. Gory MOVIES have nothing to do with physics, therefore placing this in the wrong forum, and not even on the right website. So, c'mon guys, PLEASE either let this thread die and stop posting the goriest movies you can find, or actually recommend gory PHYSICS GAMES, not movies.

I'm sure most governments have some idea of the magnitude of awful content on the internet. Unfortunately the internet is international and for everyone. Anyone can access it from anywhere, and you are violating someone's privacy by trying to access where they have visited, and therefore inhibiting their rights. It also becomes hard to police considering there are billions and billions of web pages out there, along with even more files just circulating through users. Since there is no international internet police force, or any way to monitor all internet traffic, it's mostly up to users and webmasters to watch themselves, and police their websites independently. That's why forums have admins and moderators, not "International Forum Police Dignitaries."

Ok this is my first post. And I am kinda lazy of reading pages 2 and 3
But when postal II came out in 2004 I actually payed it. It was pretty fun. I was annoyed cuz I couldnt see myself in the mirrors (old pc then). I love hittin people with the shovel in the head and then kicking the head to my dog and the dog fetchin the head :) Or pissing in the plates of ppl in the Chinese restaurant :D. Im 15 now btw. So when I saw postal 2 i in the topic i decided to register. (PS admin plz delete email verification its so boring and I dont think spam bots will be able to get through the captcha and even if they they sure wont have problems activating the account. A few weeks ago i downloaded *back in 2004 i payed 6$ to a street merchant selling pc games for postal 2:D* postal 2. Yes I didnt know the magic of torrents then. (sorry if what im typing has no sense, I need my monthly dose of WoW but I dont have the money to pay for it, I am saving money for a present for my GF. So postal 2 seems awful to me now. Dont play it. But there is no wrong in violence in games. I started carmageddon 2 when i was... five. I had completed quake 2 on normal when i was ...6 . I got my pc when I was 7 and I played soldier of fortune one (it was really fun blasting pplz ballz with a shotgun, or even their whole leg) and quake 3 and all sorts of shiz. Now I play fear and WoW and Warhammer 40k. I study in the American College of Sofia and very soon I am going to be making a lot of money via my site.
Now back to the point. Comrade (im from Bulgaria), you want violent physics games? Download soldier of fortune 2 and get a trainer from ggmania.com for endless hp and ammunition. Go to random generated maps and be sure to get a shotgun. U can blow every part of the enemies body. U can throw knives (6-7) in their eye sockets and watch them die. Thats what I can recommend u. Postal is old and graphics suck.
Now violent games. I can offer u to try quake 3. It will run on anything and its multiplayer is free. Fun for the whole family (on the internet, dont try lan)
Thats all I can recommend u for blood and gore.

There's nothing wrong with desensitization in and of itself. In fact, any self-improving person should want to confront themselves with things which are difficult, in order to grow and mature, and attain greater perspective. But it's really important that there's balance.
The ability to be horrified is a positive one. It can make us grateful for our own lives when we see something horrific. For instance, I recently watched a video called "POSO" on youtube (I think it's still there, surprisingly, look it up if you must) which depicted some horrific things happening in Indonesia at the moment. It had a strong emotional impact on me, but I felt compelled to watch through the entire thing, because to look away would be to close my mind to very real things that happen in this world. We're lucky to be safe enough to sit at a computer in the first place, and it's important to be reminded of that.
When we are so desensitized that these images no longer have an effect on us, though, we are in danger of losing that emotional gut feeling of compassion when we see others being victimized.
Certainly, the violence in most computer games is little more than a satire of real-world violence, but when someone is desensitized to the point that they "crave" violence, there is a danger that if they (or their parents, in the case of a 12 year old) don't remind themselves to stay aware of the impact violence has on others, and to keep a sense of compassion, they may eventually seek violence in real life to deal with their frustrations... be it anything from hurting an animal, to a school massacre.
We're all perfectly capable of enjoying digital violence while still remaining nonviolent and compassionate people. In fact, games can be a good safe outlet for frustration.. But it's our responsibility, and the responsibility of parents, to be aware of our (and our children's) thoughts and feelings, and make sure we keep our sense of compassion alive and well. We should always remind ourselves to consider how we would feel if an act of violence we are seeing (or playing) was done to us.
If you crave violence, think long and hard about the reason you crave it. If it's because you genuinely want to see others suffer, something is wrong, and you're letting yourself go too far with it.

Look up Rape of Nanking..

Here's a nasty yet very good film based on the massacre. It's part 4 of the Men Behind The Sun series. Parts 1 and 4 are the only good ones. It's genuinely disturbing.

Talk about the extreme ignorance of a well thought out and well typed response... That's a shame.
Might as well not say anything, Edwierd, this thread doesn't deserve your posts...

Haha ok. It was just a misunderstanding then. I apologise. I must have felt a bit grouchy at the time. I take it back and I'll delete my post. Sorry about that, chap.

Yeah, sorry, too. My post was a little bit condescending.... I honestly didn't mean to say anything negative about you, though. But it's behind us, now.

Maybe he just needs to learn the actual meaning of the word "fetish". Or maybe he's being honest and will end up like one of them body modification people that stick needles through their cock.
I think your right most likely he dosnt know what it means, probably heard it at school
now that I'm off-topic I might as well say this, I saw a Horror/Slasher film on IFC about a body mod dude torturing people by sticking a needles threw peoples most painful part of body ex: penis, nipples.

And so, it ended happily in the end... that is until some creepazoid monster escaped from the Dark Messiah thread. Excuse me while I dash to safety.

Alas, it comes back from the dead. I don't think there's anything left to be discussed in this thread, so, closed. :)
