View Full Version : Just a Few Fun Physic Time Wasters.
Here's some fun timewasters that are.... well... fun.
lol. Enjoy.
http://www.myphysicslab.com/ - 2D Samples of springs, etc... pretty cool. Change the gravity, mass, elasticity, damping, and more.
War of the Hell - http://ishi.blog2.fc2.com/blog-entry-161.html - Game where Stick Figure Ragdolls are trying to grab a physical rope that you controll, and you try to fling them to heaven. Really REALLY ADDICTIVE GAME!

War of the Hell was actually posted very recently. The other toys were actually pretty interesting, even though there wasnt a whole lot to interact with, but i actually liked the heavy focus on the math aspect of physics

I want to make physics... thingies like that with java, though I just don't know how (I suck at (in, at whatever... damn.. uh prepositions..? :D) programming) :D

Physics in games aren't usually done the way they are done on the myphysics lab website. On there they have the full equations, with trig, that when calculated yield the result that is shown in the Java demo.
The way physics are usually done is by using an integrator. You specify the forces you want to act on an object and it will move accordingly. Simple, and with no trigonometry that slows down the framerate.

Well, in fact you can do this the way they do on myphysicslab. They use Runge-Kutta 4 integrator. They only use trigonometry to show what forces to use in the integrator.

On the same website I found this; http://ishi.blog2.fc2.com/blog-entry-206.html
It is sort of like a tower sim but your destroying the tower more than building it.

I think (if I remember correctly) this was actually posted by matthew on the Fun-Motion website a while back, along with double wires........
Fun (If a little bit too easy) game here.

The tower game is great, I'd hesitate to call it too easy, since it's as hard as you make it for yourself. The point isn't just to progress, but to remove as many sticks as possible, and compete with your own score. For instance I managed to get 24 out of the first level after some tinkering.
Edit: Make that 26! :p

http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/9625/26xl2.jpg <- 26 on the first level :p It's very close, but it's a stable structure. I was able to remove one more from this and still have a next button for a brief second, but since that structure collapsed in a matter of seconds, I figured that's kinda cheat-y.

Hehe. That is REALLY close. Below the line, isn't it? Gotta love those glitches!
