View Full Version : Access to the Physics-Based Game Design forum?

Hi,

I'm new here, so apologies if this is the wrong bit of the forum to post this in (it seemed like the right bit), or if there are some rules about getting access which I don't know about (I haven't found any)... But how would I get access to the Physics-Based Game Design bit of the forum? I'm working on a heavily physics-based game, and I'm looking for somewhere to talk to people that might be interested in discussing some of the more technical aspects - this seemed like a good place to come for that, but apparently signing up for the forums doesn't get me access. What do I have to do?

Cheers,
Jack

Well, it's empty.

So you don't.

I'd love to talk to you about this game. Care to add me on AIM? Glachiac is my screenname.

Well, you could post in the feedback and request section and get some good feedback on your work! we give many sugestions as well so you best bet is posting there :D

AND I WELCOME YOU!

I'm not on AIM - I guess if you want you can PM me and I can send you my email address, if we can do things that way and if you're interested in discussing stuff?

So there's no technical discussion here about how to program physics for physics-based games? Perhaps I've come to the wrong place

To be more specific, I found this place via Grant Kot's (kotsoft) YouTube videos. His website has no contact details, but the YouTube comments threads said he posted here. I was hoping to talk to him, and other like-minded people about trying to do fluid dynamics in a way which could produce good results at reasonable framerates. Serious fluid dynamics is computationally expensive, which means on current hardware it only seems to make sense if it's a major feature of a game (which it is, with the game I'm working on), and I thought that maybe this was a place for physics programming specialists to discuss stuff like that... Was I wrong?

(apologies for the double-post)

@saymsam - I'll give it a go... Can't hurt to try, and it's always nice to find people who might be interested in what I'm doing :)

yeah, this forum is more of a group of people that play physics based games rather than creators, although there are some creators here too. my email is kotsoft at gmail dot com
i haven't really been able to find any fluid dynamics specific forums either. it's not really popular enough yet.

however
koat, geel, and I are all devs
koat being the best

If Kot weren't here, we'd have some pretty shitty games from us devs, heh.

koats the closest to pro
