If you haven't heard, only 2 days (and counting) until the release of Cellfactor: Revolution.
Cellfactor: Revolution is a PhysX-based game that is going to be released on May 8th for FREE.
There are a few videos around the web, but most information is yet to be released. In two days, I know I'll download- seeing as I have a PhysX card, this is a pretty big release.
Here's a link to their main page:

Personally I'd rather stick to Hovok for a physics engin, It's relible and 99.9 % faster.

It says that for some of the basic levels you don't need Physx hardware.

without PhysX. Google around if you want more details.

Don't judge the physical operations of PhysX by GRAW. GRAW was a poorly done adaption of PhysX, while this is developed to use PhysX to its fullest.

GRAW originaly used Havok so they are not able to have full use of PhysX Ageia.

I always thought that the PhysX drivers were primarily an engine for physics simulation, and all the PhysX card does is take the computational burden away from your processor and graphics card. If my opinion is correct, with enough computational power, you shouldn't need a PhysX card to play PhysX games.
Also, I read up on Warmonger. A few years ago Red Faction and Red Faction 2 were released, and they too support fully destructible environments. Granted they were limited to the computers of the time, but they were still fairly revolutionary. (Imagine digging a tunnel straight through the level instead of having to navigate corridors.)

I am sure, you CAN'T play this game without a physix card, because I have got a nvidia 7900 GT grafics card, an intel core 2 duo, and 1 gb memory and i played the demo. WITHOUT cloth physics I could run it fine (without touching something :D )(~50 fps I think), but with cloth physics turned ON...
Well, I think I had 2 fps :p

You can play this game without the PhysX card:) . But then you can't get the most out of the physics in the game like the cloth, lava and the explosions:(. And you need a strong PC to play this game without you fps dropping.

Right now I am downloading the full game. I am going to type a brief review just to let everyone know what it is like.
PS: This game might con you into buying the PhysX Ageia Card. Though it is a good you must be a major physics lover. If you do not like physics in games that much I recommend you do not buy one.

A question about the PhysX Card:
Does it handle the physics processing of only PhysX enabled games? Or does it recognize any application using physics and take over processing accordingly? I might get one if it does the latter, but if not I am SO getting and 8800 GTS first.
EDIT: Whoops, forgot to talk about the game! I heard about it a while ago, and it never particularly interested me. Although, since its free, I might as well.

Downloading game now.
Seriously there should be a free emulator for PhysX.
There are already emulators for video and sound cards, for example:
There is software that allows me to emulate most older ATI cards on my Nvidia video card. My sound card can automatically emulate most soundblaster cards. Why can't I just set aside some of my RAM and one of my CPU cores to act as a virtual PhysX card? Isn't that what they do for other physics engines?

go to www.fileshack.com
create an account if you don't have one, it's fully free
even if you dont get mercury, you'll most often get fairly close the the capped speed, which is not bad, much better than other servers
go to www.fileshack.com and download this game now!!!!

Yep that'd totally work... oh wait no it wont... Im pretty sure you dont have a CPU anywhere near good enough to do both its job and the job of a PPU...

PhysX Ageia Cards only work with Ageia PhysX games. So I will suggest buying the 8800 first. Because it will increase the performance in games to start with.

The other 3 levels use special dynamic physics objects, such as fluids and many more crates.
Zcool31yuo can just go on Gamershell and download it for free, without creating an account yet have 700KB download speed if you chosen your countries server.

The screenshots and videos are scaring me into how this game is going to rape my computer. But... who cares!? For this level of physics gameplay, I'll play it at 5 fps.
BTW: What is the minimum system requirements? Can't seem to find that.

it plays without a physx card, it just disables water and cloth
AquaGeneral
05-09-2007, 09:27 AM
It disables fluids only. There are still cloths but they have much less subdivisions making the tearing less realistic plus the cloth avoids collision to flooring.
ThatGuy all you need is a PhysX Ageia Accelarator Card and I guess it should be about 40FPS at the least.

Their only $100 or so... pretty darn cheap when you think about it...
Cheaper than getting more CPU power to do the same job

But at least CPU power is more practical, in that it can be used in other games.
Anyway, I installed the game, without the PhysX Ageia Accelarator Card, it ran at a jumpy 10 fps (by jumpy I mean constantly jumping below 10 fps). Though I ran around a bit and uninstalled it. I'll probably try it again once I get something more decent than my current computer.

He's right, I predict in maybe 2 years most games will be Phys X enabled
Maltor124
05-09-2007, 07:12 PM
I really doubt that...PhysX cards haven't really sold that well. We might one day have a solid need for a PPU, but I doubt it'll be Ageia who will bring it. In my opinion, theres really no need for one. If it can only work on PhysX enabled games, uses up a PCI slot, and only helps with physics processing, then you really should just get a better graphics card, or a better CPU. Nvidia's 8800 series is WAY more supported and has a portion of it's processing power devoted to physics processing.
AquaGeneral
05-09-2007, 08:25 PM
Nvidia's 8800 support will only support certain aspects of games physics wise. I have seen a great amount of tech demonstrations for the 8800 showing of the physics compatibility but I still think it is unable to do something like Warmongers standard.
Maltor124
05-09-2007, 09:31 PM
True, but I'd still rather get an 8800 than a PhysX Card.

I actually tried downloading this from gamershell.com
All the USA servers are 99-100% full, had to wait 10 minutes, downloads at 150 kBps, which is approximately 1.5 hours.
From fileshack.com it was a smooth 480 kBps to 495 kBps and got done in 20 minutes from beginning to end, waiting included. But if you can get faster speeds elsewhere, by all means please do!
Also, this game is incredible. With everything maxed out, i can run it at a steady 25 fps while handling a large ball of crates and pillars and such, and around 40 fps when i'm not doing anything.

I've been playing this game for a while now, and i have a question
Both the bishop and the black ops have the push/pull psi ability
therefore they should be able to do roughly the same things using ONLY those two abilities.
Then how come I can pick up other players and throw them with the bishop, but not with the black ops? Considering that besides driving vehicles the black ops doesn't have anything else to their advantage, they should at least be able to throw other players off the map!
Also, the only thing more dangerous that a black ops on overcharge is a bishop on overcharge.

Lol. Well, almost. It's more like about 2 or 3 tons of metal, wood, cement, and whatever happened to be in range when you decided to make a huge ball of stuff to throw at someone.
It's really fun to pick up other players, then hold the right mouse button so that everything in the immediate vicinity starts flying towards them and crushes them. But then again, its easier to just throw the guy right off the map.

Not only do you NOT need the PhysX card, but the performance increase it gives you is rather minimal, at least according to these [H] benchmarks from about a year ago.
http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1056037
I'm sure that recently that have tweaked it so that the performance boost would warrant adding a piece of hardware, but overall, it's just a waste of money at this point.

1) You cannot have fuilds without a PhysX Ageia Card.
2) When I play it is at max 15 FPS, with no AI and nothing going on 30 FPS. With the PhysX Ageia Card it is has had evidence of increasing it all the way up to 5 times the Frame-rate.
3) That topic from hardforum is 100% false. Plus even it is true CellFactor: Revolution has increased its support for a PhysX Ageia Card and also has alot more use of it.
Sorry for the grammar, I am in a rush.

2) More or less, same here (E6600, X1950XT, 1gig) hitting about 15 - 20 FPS at its peak. Find it extremely hard to believe there could be a 5 fold increase with the PhysX card.
3) It is a year old, if you read what I said, so if course it is false now.
