If you pess <-- and --> you can make the star sizes smaller, the smaller they are, the better the framerate AND the better they look! :D

EDIT:, actually, come to think of it... I have no idea why you would want to increase the star size .......

Yeah pressing '.' does have a bad effect, shift + '.' works.
