As we all know from the blog post, Matthew(or one of his colleagues) has made his/their own video player. What I suggest is that we could upload a video and it could be embedded in a post. Now, Matthew would face some serious bandwidth issues, so a remedy could be either restrictions, or maybe loading the video from a direct-download host somehow. Any thoughts?

I wouldn't mind being able to embed flash into posts, but with rises serious complications, and most forums don't allow it. Most accessible players are made in flash, and there's not really a way to restrict it to only video players, unless you mean we only use Matt's?

Well, if that's what you mean, I've actually used it personally in some web design myself (Sorry for stealing, Matt. :C ), and he's made it easy to use. If I remember correctly, he just references the URL of the video (in .flv format, mind you, it MUST be in FLV format) in some parameters surrounding the player object. The player handles the rest. It would simply require adding a button that inserts a BBcode (like [video]), and modifying the forum's BBcode javascript to use [video] to inject the embed code, and turn the referenced video URL into a required variable. That way, when you type something like [video=http://someplace.com/video.flv] it would embed the player and tell it to go and fetch that video and play it. Don't ask me to do it, though. I just know the theory of how it works, but not the actual code. S:

lolwut did i just say?

Yes, I thought he may have linked it to something else. There are ways to find out the .flv url of a youtube video or whatever, but if Matt faces copyright complications, he could always make it so that any links to youtube.com/* are denied.

I think that just adding a youtube player to the forums would be ok...

Exactly my idea: http://www.fun-motion.com/forums/showpost.php?p=66215&postcount=16

Why is that thread locked btw?

Yeah, embedded Tube videos would be nice.

Not enough physics, as Matthew said.

The thing is, with our OWN video player, it'd look a lot nicer.

well that's not really that important?

Embedded youtube's would be the easiest and best way to go. Awaiting what matt has to say in this matter, exiting

Embedded flash into posts would rock.

i think it's not really up to Matt, as this forum is made with vBulletin. so it's really up to vBulletin to let posts have videos.

It would be a nice idea, since I have DOZENS of videos of these games collecting dust on my hard drive.

Any of you guise been to enturbulation? I'm pretty sure they use Vbulletin. IMO, that's the best forum I've seen that uses Vbulletin. Instant message PM's, embedded youtube videos, HTML n' shit. Ya know.

Embedded videos are done on FacePunch, although they use a heavily modified V-bulletin.

That has to be one of the most confusing sites I've ever seen.
