View Full Version : Fun-Motion and Advertising

It's been awhile since I changed up the ad layout on Fun-Motion to the latest version. Google actually contacted me with a proposed layout that was much more aggressive than the previous setup. I also launched those damned "underline" ads (where words get underline and popup ads if you mouseover them).
I expected complaints after I made those changes, but I don't think I've had a single one. So I'm curious: Do you guys not notice? Notice but don't care? Are you running ad-stripping software?
P.S.
AdMuncher is the best Windows ad-stripping software I've found. I don't even see my own ads ;)

Adblock Plus ftw ;)
Really, even without it, Fun-Motion still looks...professional, and not so crowded.
Most ad-supported sites cram them inside so they don't fit, and make the whole site look more like a money-making scheme than an ad-supported site.
Just what I like about Fun-Motion, different, but in a good way. :D

They are starting to get a little distracting i must admit...
But I wasn't going to complain because I didn't want to seem arogant, but I do think you have a little too much advertising on your site now.
But it's still one of the best websites I know :D

Most Ads are tailored to your browsing history if you leave cookies for them to read, So I don't know what you have been surfing but that's why you got the MoCap thing.
The Underline adds are brutal.

Underline ads, despite being a nusance, take a lot less room than ordinary ads, so hey, it's better than having some huge popup come up telling you you've won an Ipod and all you have to do is sign up for 10 years of 3 blockbuster DVDs per week... blah blah blah...
So hey. Underline ads are fine in my book. Which I happen to be READING.

Really the only ads that I accept are those Google text only ones that make an attempt to provide you with relevant topics.

I'm going to give the underline ads another week or so--I've heard this particular service can take up to a month to completely optimize which terms they're targeting for your site. Right now it's such a piddly amount of income (<$1/day last I looked) that it isn't worth the annoyance.
