Anyone know any besides Need For Speed, Juiced and Forza?
I've only seen some with very basic customization, anyone with some deep customization features?

Thanks

Physics forum...
But I think gt has quite a good customization system

Well, when i say customization, i believe physics must be included, eh?

Ofcourse if your talking about driving game, they must have physics, but I wouldn't say NfS or Juiced or something is physics based game , not even close. But to ontopic, gt is the only I know

Oh yeah... Juiced was real good. *sarcasm*

When it comes to driving games, everything's just bowing down and kissing the boots of Screamer 2.

Car deformation physics can be good, but it still doesn't make most car games have physics based gameplay. I'm not sure if this has been made but it would be interesting to see a car game where physics influence gameplay.

For example rocks fall from a cliff as you are driving along and you have to dodge them, then you drive onto a wooden bridge which sways as you go across it and you hope it doesn't break. Stuff like that would be cool.

But you need physics for the car, unless the track is completely flat and has no walls.

No I'm not talking about basic physics like keeping the car going along the road and putting it under the influence of gravity - all car games have those physics, I'm talking about advanced physics that influence and create the gameplay.

In that case, I'd say FlatOut. It's got a little minigame where you drive the car into a wall, and the driver comes out and you see how far you can get him in the air... and... and... little... barrels...

stuf...

yep. grab a copy of FlatOut or FlatOut 2.

I don't like much racing games (Carmagedon doesn't count :p), but FlatOut series are in my favourite games... I guess because it's one of the not so many games with great deformation of the vehicles. And with a great soundtrack, at least for my tastes. But i think that if a "everything can be destroyed" game like this had ultra-realistic physics generally, it would be a bit unplayable. FlatOut without this... arcade-ish vehicle behaviour, wouldn't be such a fun game. That bridge part you described sounds great, but they must be careful not to ruin the fun in the name of realism :)

street legal ROCKS!!! and even has physics when customising

Street Legal is great for car customization, while still having an effect in physics. For example, i pimp my ride by removing all unnecessary parts (doors, seats, one of each pair of lights, etc.) so that it weighs less and accelerates faster (and i get money for selling those parts too!) :D

Never played SLR, but looks very interesting from what i read here...
I'll rent it and give it a try tomorrow, but i have a bad feeling about the car's behaviour on the street. The customization videos where pretty cool, but the driving ones didn't look so good. I'll found out tomorrow ;)

Yeah but FlatOuts don't have much noticeable customization...still my favorite games though

Redline has to be the worst game I've ever played.

Forza Motorsport 2. Extremely customizable (Most customizable game to date), and incredibly realistic physics including dynamic vehicle damage.
