This is the pre beta of my first game(so give me some credit).
NOTE this is a prebeta!

Version .002 is out !
NOTE
I will come up with new maps very soon but i had to firt fix many bugs ... so next update will have many MANY new maps

That game is great! It has perfect physics and I do love the Companion Cube:D. With a little touch up on some things like the instructions at the start, this game could be even better.
EDIT
There is a strange glitch on the level where you unlock the portal, It appears that after I messed up the tower, the level wasn't restarting and the Companion Cube had fallen off the screen so I was stuck. Also, the instructions were a bit vague on that same level, how do I get the companion cube into that portal exactly?

Works great.
Personally im tired of these type of games. but this one works very well. and if you could add some more portal stuff im sure it would be great.
Fx. make the objective to get the companion cube through one portal that makes it fall onto a safe platform. ofcourse this will force you to code "real" portals.

Ok, After reading your post I finished the portal level. I have thought of a few things that need to be added in/built on.
1. The glitch I mentioned earlier.
2. Needs more levels for sure.
3. Needs some sound effects/music (I recommend Still Alive for the credits).
4. Needs some backrounds/better graphics for the black Companion Cube areas and the dialog boxes.
5. A level editor would be epic.
6. Different types of blocks like special blocks that go up instead of down when not touched by a block.
7. Less posts:p , I mean you've been on Funmotion for half as long as me and you've got the same number of posts already!
PS. If you have a closed beta, can I be a beta tester?
PPS. Is this seriously your first attempt at a full scale game? Because it is really good for a first try.

this is just unfair. He posts a stupid gamemaker game made with Gmphysics and everyone LOVES it, but when I post a game, made with gamemaker, made with my OWN physics engine, people hate it.

so far i got a few new maps and a new moving platform object so far its a bit buggy but im working on it... I also have fixed a couple bugs like the one with the portal level

I was actually suprised of how perfect everything was done. It may not be original but there are no complaints from me besides that things like the portals could a neon type glow to them. Not as in glow in the engine but in a program like PhotoShop.
Anyway, great job :)
Edit: @geel9 - It's not a double standard thing, it is to do with concepts. You can put lots of effort and time into a game but it does not mean that it's always going to turn out the best. I enjoyed both games.
Also this is what I have been meaning to ask you for awhile. What do you mean about creating your own physics engine? Is it editing from a source engine or 100% built up from the ground? If so what recourses did you use to learn that?

I actually read a lot of tutorials, had a lot of help from my college friends, but I used no premade engine.

Some things i wanna mention:
1. You might want to change the "cedits" to "credits" at the main menu :p
2. How about setting the number of cubes to decrease as you click them?
Sounds better to me showing the remaining ones and not how many you click.
Or remove the counter totally, it's not really necessary.
3. On the first level with portals, instead of passing the level when you "hit" the orange portal, it just crashes sometimes. It's random.
4. Finally, you need to change the background on every level. Chamber 01, 02 etc...
That's all, waiting for more ;)

I had absolutely no problems playing it, The only thing that I thought should be fixed is the spelling mistake that was mentioned earlier. The game runs very well and I like the inclusion of moving platforms. Good Stuff!

(for me atleast :D) well my dumb but brother (he has no experience with computers) tryed to install SP 3 for xp and he did somthing really horrible ... somehow he got me the blue screen o death so now i gotta reinstall windows ... and i lost all my work for this project ... im gonna make more to it though but i first want to make it with a better game making software ... soo do expect any update (not that you really wanted one anyways :D)

First of all, every other game maker that doesn't require any knowledge of programming SUCKS! So ward away from those. C++ or XNA is really good, though it takes years to get to a "good game" level.

Imo, BlitzMax is the easiest Game Making software to learn... That combined with Farseer Physics is great for Physics games, A good game level would take 1-2 Months of learning (Well, not that great a game but... Something like Geels weird ghost game would be possible after that... I thought it was pretty good anyways)

Okay well, I'm going to remake this game but use Blitzmax to create it and I would like to know if anyone knows a good physics engine with ease of use. I'm trying out farseer engine but I just have no idea where to start...

If you like, i could give you the full source of my Ragdoll walk thing for you to have a look at... I pretty much stopped developing it when i hit some problems, but if you want the source just ask.. (Its made with Farseer) And if you dont know how to do something in it, ask and i might know :P

It was mostly the way i wanted to Draw the tiles onto things, I couldnt work out how to rotate ALL tiles around a specific point, there was also some other minor stuff too though...
The source im sending you, is in Blide Project format (A custom BlitzMax IDE) so youll need to download that (Its a better editor)... Its also pretty messy, since i didnt get around to cleaning it up. I think theres probably a few things wrong with the code atm, since i cant compile it anymore (I had to reformat my laptop, so my IDE aint set up correctly, may be because of that)

thanks! I'll check it out and get to work! But one thing i do not like about the farseer engine is texturing, they make it such a pain in the ass compared to other physics engines.

Its pretty easy to do once you figure it out... I made a function the main part of the Ragdoll Walk source, that does it pretty easily!

I finaly got some work done and it's smooth(ish) sailing for now, I got the whole click to delete cube. I plan to add REAL portals which now does not seem hard to do, and i also plan to add those fire pits some how. I do need to remake all my sprites because i lost everything, so i'll have my friend eli do that, so some time in the next month i'll have some sort of alpha or beta or whatever...
I'm still a big newbie at blitz (or programing for that matter) so it would be great if i could get help if I run in to issues.

so far it's just going to be a total remake of the old one but with a much much more stable language. (if you count GM as a language)

Hi. Same problem here since about 10 last night. It wont save....and that stinks because I was heading into level 20 I also submited a ticket, and have yet to hear back on the problem. Upgraded my Flash, and cleaned out Java, but those things did nothing either.....hope it gets fixed soon, I LOVE this game
