We need an "Off-topic" forum similar to the one at DataRealms.
Also, I have the second most number of posts already, hehe.:D
Second only to Matthew himself.

I thought about it, but I deliberately omitted a non-physics game discussion and general off-topic forum section. I'd like to keep the entire forum on-topic. I may add more forums if they're needed to siphon off-topic discussion from the other sections, but I'd really prefer not to.

Like General Site Discussion

Oh no! We GOTTA have an off-topic section! The place has a more friendly feel to it when there's a place to socialize like that. Otherwise, we'll SURELY have dozens of people who make off-topic posts in every other section of the forum. Trust me, as the forum grows, the number of threads like these will grow as well. Since this is the first day of its existence, and there are already almost 100 members, I imagine things may become pretty hectic around these parts. You need to be sure you're keeping reins on that, as new forums can quickly recede into a conglomerate of annoying noobly posts.

[Plus, I had a treat planned for this forum which would've had to be posted in an off-topic area. =/]

Might I propose the prospect of a section merely for off-topic discussion, but some sort of quality standard requiring a certain amount of intelligence in the posts? You know, an unwritten set of rules limiting the presence of mindless "free post" topics that don't really contribute to the posterity of the board?

I believe an off-topic section is a necessary staple of a successful forum, though I can't really tolerate nonsensical posts that bring nothing interesting to the table.

Yea, off-topic sections suck when you think about it. I agree with you Matt.

It might be a good idea to create a off-topic section when the forum is bigger. Just don't make it too big.

We HAVE one.

Get mIRC (http://mirc.com), and do this:

type /server irc.quakenet.org

Hit Enter.

type /connect

Hit Enter

type /join #fun-motion

Hit Enter.

There. The off-topic section.

Jokker's correct. Use IRC for off-topic.

We don't want spammers and all of that nonsense on the forums.

nobody uses the IRC for off topic (always empty)

and for the spammers we get modderators. I agree with trooth it feals more friendly with an off topic, or maybe a nonphysic game section because theres to many non physic based games in the wrong section

No-one uses the IRC because it's always empty. Well then how do you want it not to be empty if you're not using it? While I'm on the comp (like now), I'm in fun-motion, and a simple call of my name will flash the window.

Zakor is idling almost constantly, and if I find a shell that lets me run Java, both Z-oh (anti-spam) and Rawbot (chat and opping) will be on 24-7. And off-topic isn't a good idea. This forum is supposed to have a topic. And that is physics games. I agree, you should be able to discuss other games, but no off-topic as that simply leads to lots of spam.

If you want off-topic, just get on the IRC and wait for people to come. Idle in there an hour or so.

Oh, and Matt, if you see this, you should consider posting a link to the IRC on the main page.
