Seriously... I don't see why forums don't do this. It's too much bother for some people (including myself) to type every message in word or something with a spell checker and the copy\paste it here. I know you can get browser add-ons and programs to check your spelling as you type, but wouldn't an integrated one be better? I'm not objecting, but there are some real spelling and grammar nazis here, and often it's justified. Maybe they'd have less to complain about with an integrated spell checker..?
And before someone says "are you volunteering?" I'm not.

Even so, then people would complain because OH, they have to PRESS the button? That's toooooo much work.
Seriously, the solution to your problem: http://getfirefox.com
In-line spell-checker = win.

Would said spell check be able to be incorporated into the space before actual sending. As in say you write "the caw" the spell check could see that, send the message back as "the cow" for you to look over.

Firefox is the solution to this, not a spell checker integrated into the forum. It underlines words that aren't spelt correctly as you type them and this can be applied to any field. Actually as I'm typing this it has underlined "Firefox" as a spelling error??

We're having more of a problem, with extremely dumb threads IMO!

Both Firefox and IE7 can have a spellchecker extension, get off your butts and get it :D

Hmm... yes, but if we had an in-built spell checker, it would FORCE stupid people to have correct spelling. Besides, I have firefox 2 and I can't find anything that will work with 1.5+

I have Firefox 2 and it has a dictionary you need to download:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:3
Also, you can't have an inline spell checker in the forums. Built-in, without having to press a button to activate it. You'd then need flash/java in the posting bit, which would mean people without them can't post.
oxology: 'pourpose' heh.

Yeah, what happened to good old-fashioned knowledge of how to spell words correctly? And by the way Beakless it's spelt before ;).

Yes ! Agreed with that !
It's just so damn easy to learn how to spell the right way !
Don't rely on stupid machines to help to write correctly, it's too lame, use your own brain ! I don't know, borrow some self-esteem !
I really don't conceive smart peoples writing such freakin' stupid nonsense sentences/words...
The first thing you must do if you want anyone to have just the beginning of the idea you're someone worthless earing from is to express yourself correctly !

I don't mean to bump this thread but I am getting sick and tired of gramma nazis on this forum.
It wasn't a problem a couple of days ago, but suddenly, loads of people are picking fights over proper gramma, am I the only one that thinks that's crazy???

Well I'm glad that people on this forum do actually care about grammar. It'd be really annoying to have posts that don't even use sentences be the norm. It's certainly nothing to get into fights over though. If someone just made a small mistake then it's really not that important.

Other forums have + and - karma. Why not create a similiar system here too? Not only with grammar, but other things also.

grammar*! D: Nazi's!*
It's just a joke, chill. The fact that people care about grammar is good, not bad. But that is IF it's done the correct way. This is wrong:
A: I no about that.
B: It's spelled know, not no dumbass, you SUCK!
And this is the correct way:
A: I no about that.
B: Know, not no. [on-topic post]
A: Oh, okay, I'll keep that in mind. [on-topic post]
Did I ever flame someone for not using good grammar? No. Heck, I even made jokes. I only correct bad grammar because there is a chance he will learn, and not spell it the wrong way next time. And that not only helps on forums, but it will help him in real like as well, good English skills is already a must in the modern world.

Wow, i didnt know people actually copy and paste from MSWord, i think thats a little bit overboard, and i also dont see how spelling can be such a problem, its not like every post is a research paper, as long as u get what they are saying, then whats the problem?

The problem is that people think that way. Why NOT use good grammar? Makes it much easier to understand, and makes you not look like a primate. Also, I'm not going on about PERFECT grammar. I mean acceptable grammar. Meaning your grammar (with a few errors) is acceptable. But "i m s0r`/ fur m`/ grmmer 1 is 1t4li4n l0l0l" is nowhere near acceptable.

...And putting 'i' instead of 'I' or 'u' instead of 'you', those two always really get on my nerves, using proper gramma & spelling just makes you look smater (in a way) and it also shows people that you have though carefully about the point you're trying to make... It's also a way of showing respect to the forums.

I agree that people should take using good grammar as a standard in posting, though some people on this forum are totally overreacting to subtle mistakes in posts.
Making a tiny grammar/spelling error doesn't give you the privilege of flaming that person. However, gently correcting the person should work. Though, if he continues to take advantage of your liniency, break out the flaming weapons.

I always use the spell checker to make sure I'm not spelling anything wrong, I recommend it. Its just a quick download away.

The spellchecker I was using doesn't work with Firefox 2.0.0.3.
So now I just suffer in mah jocks. It was too annoying anyway, I use a lot of jargon from the province of my brain.

It comes naturally to me. I have an "uber-1337 zomg i own u all lololololol!!!!111oneoneone!1" friend. I've spent a little too much time with him, it's easy to spell wrong.
