This is the sweetest mod for a physics game ever, You start on a planet resembling earth. When I first logged in I was like this is ok I guess as I watched someone building a spaceship, but then night time came and I looked up and saw all the other planets and the sun. The map I played had the 4 inner planets, the Sun, and the Moon.

I built my rickity space ship with only oxygen life support, but a lot of it beacuse I planned on landing on the moon. There is also heat/coolant. My ship had a suit rack on it. I took a suit and explored the Moon I was considering setting up life support on the planet so everyone could live there, but it was kind of small so I kept going.

I was heading for venus, and as you may know venus isn't the most hospitable of planets and as soon as I entered the atmposhere, some sort of violent gas storm I was crushed along with my ship.

It's quite a sweet mod I'd recommend looking into it.

I only wish I had gmod 10. Though, that sounds like an awesome mod. Wonder how it works, sounds awfully complicated.

You dont just have to build spaceships, someone once made a ladder to space and a space suit station at the base on earth with refueling points along the way.

there are actually only three maps for this gamemode right now:

spacebuild (the one you played)
spacetreck
spacevoyage

thats all they got right now but all of them have 5-8 planets
i can add links to download the other two to this post if anyone wants them

Which HL2 engine games do you have to have to be able to play this?
I have hl2, but gmod says I need hl2 deathmatch, hl2 ctf, and cs source.
I would really love to play it, but i'm short on money right now.

You have GMOD 9.

Go and buy GMOD 10. You'll only need that and HL2 (original version, not keygenned or the like). Or if you have it faked, iso's, etc, buy the CS: Source + GMOD 10 bundle 25$. GMOD 10 alone is only 10$.

PS. I envy you. I can't even buy HL2, without having someone go to America to buy them and waiting a month for their return. :/

You can buy HL2 wherever you are through Steam.
It'll take you a few hours to download because their servers aren't the fastest in the world, but it totally beats having to fly to america for it.
I don't think Steam puts any limits on where you must be to buy their games, so i think you should give it a try (if you've got the machine power for the game)

HL2 Specs:
Beat the game 3 times
Avg Loading time 10 seconds
Currently running with all settings on maximum (except mouse sensitivity)
Lost coast:
Stress Test - avg 115 fps

Machine Specs
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz 4MB L2 cache
2GB DDR2 800 MHz RAM
Geforce 7950 GT videocard
Nvidia SLI 590 chipset

with this machine, I can run most xbox360 ports on all max settings with no lag, but i'm going to upgrade so that I can run ps3 ports.

It's not that Steam doesn't let me buy the game. It's the fact that here in Romania, it takes 100$ to send money outside the border. And that's ADDED to the actual price.

So yeah, I'm trying to find a way, but no way I see. :/

SOrry about not including a link, but I actually didn't use one myself, I found a multiplayer Spacebuild server and played there. It downloads what you need through LUA scripts

I MAY be able to play. It seems sharing a Steam account which has GMOD should work. If not, pff.

Can't wait to play, anyway. : D

Sorry, I didn't know that. But I think that sharing an account that has GMOD 10 on it is a good idea. Do you have any good friends outside of Romania?

Jokker

Yeah, I do. And I'm sharing an account. Though unfortunately I can't play online. :\

It's my friend's account's problem. Though single-player works. I'll try to buy it when my friend leaves for the US of A.

And of course Life Support and the Spacebuild mod is awesome!

Making a shuttle, going to Mars, making a settlement, and returning to Earth = awesome.

I'ma upload some pics.

My crammed shuttle: http://img160.imageshack.us/img160/7553/gmspacebuildv20000kb1.jpg

Uses 4 hoverballs, 4 thrusters to turn and 1 thruster to move.

Also, it has 6 air tanks, a large power cell, it's covered in solar panels, has a supply point and a suit recharger. Also, an air exchanger. Yeah, I went prepared (even though the mod didn't completely work, so temperature and air was not there :\)

Now then.

http://img471.imageshack.us/img471/1171/gmspacebuildv20006rx4.jpg

My small camp. Has 3 wind generators on each side, and it's covered in solar panels. Duplication was used for the walls and the ceiling. ( Not magnetic floor yet.)

http://img250.imageshack.us/img250/2734/gmspacebuildv20007xe7.jpg

A wider view.

http://img164.imageshack.us/img164/1662/gmspacebuildv20005ku8.jpg

A closer view. This is the camp. It's got 2 power cells, connected to 3 SMALL power cells, which spread the energy. And 3 air tanks, which are used by the Air Exchanger and the Suit recharger.

So, post some of yours.

(PS. No, I can't play online until I actually buy it. It may be a month or so. :\)

Kay, so. I installed the v2c patch. I forgot that one at first. Man, it has to be a HUGE ship not to run out of coolant or air :\

Also, how do you do display screens? I saw some screens where they coded a screen that displayed remaining coolant, air, etc. How do you code objects? :/

I got a public server running. IT has: phoenix storms model pack, wiremod, lifesupport and prop secure.

Jokker

Right, right.

Now then. After installing, I now made a space-shuttle. However, this was different. I made 2 "boxes", with a wall gone, and filled will coolant/air containers. Then I placed the respective generator on top of the 'box', with a small battery, and a plug on the right. After charging a full battery (the big ones) on wind and solar, on the ground, I started filling the containers with the generators.

Then I went ahead, and made a board with batteries, plugs, a Climatizer and the others, and waited *patiently* for the containers to top off. With that done, I brought the 'boxes' and attached them to the frame. Then I filled the bottom of the ship with slow-moving hover-balls, and attached 5 thrusters. Then, on I was to ...Venus I think it was.

Once there (with 3 reloads, because I kept walking onto hover-balls and falling behind the shuttle), I began to make my station. Placed 3 four by fours on the ground, and a few wind generators, and attached them to my shuttle.

Now I could generate coolant AND air without wasting energy, actually GAINING energy.

I was kinda bored waiting for the energy to charge up, so I inserted the buggy into the plan. I inserted it, put a couple of small batteries, an air tank and a heat exchanger and I was on my way. Took like, 5 laps of the planet, and I was back at the shuttle. I left the buggy on the 3 plates I put, spawned a battery real quick, attached it to the wind generators, and left.

I still have the save, and I intend to make a better shuttle and go to Venus once more, and see how much energy the generators made :D

Now then, time for pics.

http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/5210/gmspacevoyagev20000ka6.jpg

The back of my shuttle. A nice, hardly stable, inverted T shape.

http://img238.imageshack.us/img238/7834/gmspacevoyagev20001vr9.jpg

A row of my coolant. You can see the box with the battery/generator on top.

http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/6816/gmspacevoyagev20007gp3.jpg

My buggy, spawned at the end of my 'landing pad'.

http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/663/gmspacevoyagev20013ic1.jpg

A back-view of my shuttle. Pretty small and unstable.

I used PHX constructors for the shuttle and...everything else. Beats blast-door/dumpster builds.

So yeah, comment.

i got gmod10, but i cant get spacebuild to work
where do i have to copy all the stuff from it to make it work?

Jokker
04-10-2007, 06:29 AM
Okay, so, let's say this is your steam folder:

c:/steam

When you get an "addons" folder, you copy it to c:/steam/steamapps/[username]/garrysmod/garrysmod

And replace the addons folder there. Same with the others, although .bsp's you copy to c:/steam/steamapps/[username]/garrysmod/garrysmod/maps

Have fun.

PS. Oh GOD. I CAN PLAY ONLINE! But...only on "non-steam" servers. If any of you can make one...DO EET. Pweeze :3

Zcool31

I would by all means make a non-steam server, but i'm behind a router and a firewall, and my upload speed isn't that great
btw thanks for the advice, i'll try it now

Zcool31
04-10-2007, 04:07 PM
it didnt work!!!
When I play garry's mod, it still is the same, and i dont even get to pick spacebuild from the menu at the bottom!! I really wanna play spacebuild

Jokker
04-10-2007, 04:20 PM
This is weird. Okay do this:

After extracting the .zip, go into the folder they created. If it's called "addons", don't do that, just stay there.

Then, copy the addons folder whole into:

[path to steam]/steamapps/garrysmod/garrysmod

And replace the addons folder with that one. Restart steam, and go into Garry's Mod.

It SHOULD work. :/ Unless you're doing something wrong.

PS. PLEASE! Anyone who can make a non-steam server, do so. Make sure you have Wire mod and the space-stuff as well.

It finally works, all I had to do was copy the map to the maps foulder, then copy the data from the gamemode foulder into garrysmod/gamemodes/spacebuild and thats it, though it doesnt consider life support yet

I found this mod, you have to look for spacebuild 1.7 on garrysmod.org
then follow the links on that page, and you should find it
(possibly look for lifesupport 1.7)

Search for "DBZ over nine thousand" on Youtube and you shall know.

Not spacebuild 1.7, spacebuild v3, and lifesupport 1.7.

It now has Fusion reactor, and a few other neat stuff. Also, if you're installing lifesupport 1.7, you're going to have to do 2 things. Delete the whole lifesupport installing before updating, because they're incompatible (new link gun), and install another plugin you need (it's on the lifesupport download page)
