Hmm, looks like my idea of making a perfect zero-gravity object remains fiction,

The emitters simply can't fire at a perfect 90 degree angle. So even if i did find
the value for perfect Z-G, it would just tip to the right sooner or later.
Well, it's impossible with one emitter, but two might offer added stability...

Oh they would, if the emitters were able to fire at a perfect 90 degree angle.
That way, one could have ultra-slow shots of doom, which flew in a straight line.
Pinning doesn't allow that.
No matter though...

Ok, I edited a Coalition Heavy (nonbase.rte WOW..... [Sarcasm/] to use the ypsilon emitter.

It actually works, with some flaws
1. when i get hit with a bullet, it dissapears, and won't jetpack
2. ok, since this IS a jetpack, when it hits the ground, it will kill me (jetpack is the shape of the cannon)

and some benifits
1. You can AIM this, by crouching and stuff like that
2. it kills
3. Fun

Oh, and I have a question
With PINNED Rockets, can I still make it rotate? It'll be cool to have a stationary lazer gun.

You can give weapons to pinned actors/crabs though.

You only asked one question.
Also remove the lifetime variable from the jetpack.
Also set it's sprite back to normal.

Send me the file and I might be able to fix it up into a more workable mod.

Laser Bayonet crash the game. What i'm thinking is to have a single-shot emitter
attached to the gun, which fired a particle that made a wound on the attachable
part, which then spewed out the laser. Does that sound feasible? Sure, it would
give problems when you just drop the gun from the bunker editor, but maybe it
would work without crashing the game...

Attach the Emitter to the Magazine. when the magazine falls out, the emitter falls out. During reload, you can switch weapons.

Or do Both. that way, when you pull a new magazine out, you get a fresh new bayonet.

you gotta make the wound go in a straight line and not kill you.

Why not do that for the Orbital ball?

Y'know, that's actually a really good idea! Imma go try it out...

Edit: ... Wait, that doesn't solve the game freezing. It happens when the gun
lies on the ground for an extended period of time, god knows why.

Well I got the laser guy to work.
I just can't be bothered to change all the offsets.

And it's impossible to get it to jump, so you may as well keep it as you have it.

@shook: Well, the buttazer doesn't need to fly. Or you can make a flying device that makes him fly.

Spearing gun - why not make the sharpness like -999999999999999999999999999999999 or something like that (or 0)

Weapon Ideas.
1. lazer sword - Has lazor bayonet technology when you "SHOOT", you Lunge tward the enemy.
2. Lazersaw - has Laz. bay. tech. When you shoot, a shield appears around you to prevent intervention for mass murdur.

Actor Ideas
1. Feetbladers - has attachable laz. bay. tech. to it's feet.
2. Armblades - same as above but attached to arms
3. butt attack - same as above but attached to butt
4. Spider Man - Has emmiters in his hand that can only hurt terrain. good for wallclimbing

Because neither of the small forums I posted it on responded I, hesitantly, must let you guys test this.

I don't really care who has it because it isn't finished anyway, so I'll just attach it to this post.

Remember, it's meant to be light and easy to kill.
Also, even though it's dirt cheap as it is, I'm going to make it even less expensive.
Although I bet you all cheat with gold anyway :V

The jetpack occasionally kills you and that is intentional.
Tell me what you want me to change, here or in a PM I don't care.
I mean it'll at least put some space between the shook mod suggestions

Pros
+ Cheap
+ Fast
+ Has Regular HP
+ Strong jetpack, good when you have like, abillion weapons

Cons
- Jetpack Kills you sometime
- Jetpack is bad when you have 1 weapon

Those are intentional.
Or at least, the first one is.

Also, in case you didn't notice, it can't crawl.
Instead, when you try, it dives forward through the air.
If you only have one gun, try doing that in front of the enemy and then using the jetpack ;)

There isn't a cheat as such.

But it's very easy just to go into base.rte, open "activities.ini" and change the variable marked playeronegold or something like that.

Hardly. It's a heavy-duty shotgun that is tough enough to be used as a club,
but it sure as heck won't help you much against a 10 meter tall mech :P
But it remains highly effective against infantry.

I tried making 12 no-weapon amputees body-slam the MPAM.
NO EFFECT.
Didn't work on AAL Marines either.

...

Which doesn't sound too amazing, but with their jetpack speed they can suicide-gib most other actors instantly.

Although occasionally they just explode in mid-air and spray the enemy with blood.

Hypothetic, y'know?
But right now i'm just thinking about if i should call it "Whomper" (Current) or "Decapitator"...
I came to think of the latter after seeing the insides of many a heads :P
But note this, it isn't a very special shotgun, it's mostly made because i've only
made like, one true shotgun. (Pyro Cannon etc. can hardly be called a shotgun)

Well, if you attempt to do any Laz. Bay. Tech I suguested, Here's some sword sprites made by me.

Oh, And My secret to making the knives/Shorter sword is simple.

Make Giant sword in Paint, Then Use CTRL+W then in the stretch window put this in

Short sword - 70% in both
Knife - 30% in both

oh, and I fix any scaling errors

Hmm, i've been doing a bit of thinking regarding the color scheme i use. Currently,
it's mostly different shades of grey, with the occasional other color in between.
But while making the "Whomper" Shotgun, i thought that an entirely grey frame
would be rather dull, so i gave it green-ish colors for the carbon-ish parts, namely
the stock and the pump action thingy. I think it looks pretty well, so maybe i should
include green shades into my color scheme?

It is going to be the same style as the Ypsilon (Big gun from above), and would pretty much fall into the
"Hyperweapon" class. There's no way in hell a person would be able to carry a gun
of that size :P
But again, do not, and i repeat, do NOT expect it any time soon. I haven't even
started on it yet, and when i do, it's going to take a good while to finish it. The sprite(s)
alone are going to be troublesome, and the code isn't going to be much better.

Hmm, i think i might just start a faction-ish mod pack soon, using the same color
scheme as you see on the "Whomper" Shotgun... However, there is just this little
problem that i can't think of a name for it xP
If any of you have an idea for a name that isn't total gibberish or utterly stupid,
please PM it to me, and don't clog up this thread with 9001 suggestions. Oh yeah,
i'm not looking for joke names, so don't bother with them.
The pack will be independent of my huge pack of mods, so it'll have a set of weapons
for itself. The Whomper will be a part of the pack, and as you can't see (Lulz),
they will favor powerful high-speed rounds, like me :P
Along with the standard set of weapons that are obligatory for any army with
a bit of self-respect (Pistol, rifle, SMG...), they'll probably also have a few superweapons.
No hyperweapons* though, so don't expect to see the Apoc. Cannon in their arsenal :P
They are going to be a fairly dangerous bunch though.
So yeah, basically, if you have an idea (Or two) for a non-idiotic name that
isn't jokey either for the above army, PM me with it.

* Hyperweapons are insanely overpowered weapons that would easily destroy
over half of the entire map. At least. Almost comparable to map-wipes.

whether ultra is "higher" than hyper. But i do know that hyper is higher than super,
since supersonic is just above the speed of sound, while hypersonic is more than
five times the speed of sound.

Well, they're an agressive bunch, that are fairly intelligent (Slightly above ordinary humans today),
but they prefer relatively simple and powerful weaponry, mostly because they're
reliable in a lot of conditions, and because they're tough to break.
Their armor is a lot like their weapons, simple, reliable and tough. What i mean by
simple is that it isn't stuffed up with all kinds of weird electronics and mechanics,
but it is of course made comfortable to wear.

just a bit smarter than your average bloke. It's not like they've made nanobots
that will keep their brains alive without the body. Not counting the brain jug.

So anyways, i've had a pretty cool idea for a weapon recently...
It's basically a rocket launcher, but it functions a lot differently.
Kind of like this:

I could also make an airburst edition, which covered a wider area in shrapnel and
generic blast stuff.

How about, a gun that spawns a controllable lizard, then when it gets close enough, it'll eplode.

And a weapon that'll spawn a trapping cage, then you can brutally murdur me without worry.

I have an Idea to make a True Lazer!!!

1. Make it shoot a Block
2. Add trail emitters, lots of trail emitters
3. Make The Block gib like this (See Bottom)
4. Make It pierce Multiple people at once
5. Balance the weapon
6. Make The emitter have an After Image, Kinda Like Purple's Starcraft Ghost
7. Make it Rapid fire.

And a gun that spawns a ball made of pure energy that completely shreads the ground (does not explode)

diagonally, because that would just clutter up aiming.

Not as hard as it would seem, but still tricky... At least the rocket tend to
go off close to the sharp aim thingy :P
In any case, you can also just fire the rocket right in the face of someone. It's
not like it cares about when it impacts xP
Edit: But it's worth it though, as a direct hit = DEATH.

There is just this little problem of the player adjusting his aim. If it went 45 degrees
upwards while firing horizontally, it would rocket skywards if fired vertically, and
would hardly fly if you aimed down. Why? Because velocity is fixed, not following
the aim of the player. And no, i can't do code-hax to make it do so.
Besides, what the heck should you use an up-going missile for? Drop-ship hunting?

It would work perfectly, but i just seem to like the idea of a missile smacking down
into peoples heads at like, mach 20 better :P
Besides, this seems like a more realistic weapon than a missile that suddenly turns
into a free-falling bomb :P

Well then, Have it be the other way around! Make it shoot out a bomb that gibs into a missle going 1,000,000,000,000 Miles per hour at a perfect 90 degree angle.

Also, i think i've found a way to make things (Not pixels) pass through terrain
without stopping, erasing all the terrain it hits... This opens up the possibility of
the Hax Cannon :3 (Or the giant plasma ball for that matter)
Basically, the Hax Cannon fires a big shell, which is either explosive or totally inert...
And that shell happens to pass through terrain without slowing, giving the opponent
the impression of hax. And therefore the name :3

Firstly, i can't make it go effortlessy through terrain, and secondly, even if it could,
it just can't hit actors...
So yeah, i'll probably just make it a standard cannon that looks more modern.
And maybe make it belong to my faction...

I just made the cannonball ridiculously heavy (FIFTEEN TONS), so now it just plows
through everything like a hot knife through molten butter :P

I've realised that my spriting skills aren't good enough for my mod :V
I am really bad at shading things with this pallete.

So I'm going to have to upload and colour my concept art ASAP and get someone else to do it.
Unfortunately my scanner isn't even installed.
And my computer doesn't have Flash (I <3 flash for colouring).

Fortunately for you you'll get to see my awesome concept art and won't have to wait till it's all done to see what you are getting :D

You should make it so that it seems more hax, like putting a red dot aimer to help aim.
also make it have a trail to cover up the hole made to make it seem like you shot through the wall and not tear it up.

A bullet that goes through everything is a tad too easy to make, just give it a
gazillion Sharpness. Also, a high-sharpness bullet won't do a whole lot of damage,
unless you set the particle count way up high...
Besides, a cannon is more awesome than a pistol.

I have ever wondered how people make gifs. Could you tell me please? :)
It's pretty easy actually, just set up the scene you want, press and hold Print Screen,
do whatever you want to gif, and release Print Screen. Yes, it goes very slowly,
but that means that it's taking images. All the images will be put in your CC folder,
with the name(s) "TestDump000, TestDump001..." And so on.
Then take all of those images, and put them into a gif making program. I use Ulead GIF Animator,
but there is a lot of other programs out there :P (GEWGLE)

Well, he did say that he could make the bayonet into breakwounds, since breakwounds don't lag like emitter weapons (Purple's Psyblade).

For example, zalo's AwesomeFantastic.
It's breakwound leaks blue stuff. Swap it for another weapon, 10 minutes later, switch, no lag.

But the laser bayonet and orbital ball is different.
Because it has emitters instead of breakwounds, It'll cause major lag 10 minutes later, and it's just plain annoying to pull those weapons out just to prevent lag.

Can't you make breakwounds hurt though?

Hmmmmmmmm... Maybe... Just maybe, i've found a way to avoid making the
Laser Bayonet crash the game. What i'm thinking is to have a single-shot emitter
attached to the gun, which fired a particle that made a wound on the attachable
part, which then spewed out the laser. Does that sound feasible? Sure, it would
give problems when you just drop the gun from the bunker editor, but maybe it
would work without crashing the game...

bleeding you get when you shoot a clone in his head without it gibbing. What i'm
talking about here is the large bleeding that comes from a dismembered limb.

Portals are easy: Just declare Box, and each update check if anything’s position is inside of it ( myBox:WithinBox(myActor.Pos) ). If it is, then set the position of the object to wherever the exit portal location is (myActor.Pos = exitPortalPos). Can also spawn any kind of effects whenever teleportation happens etc.

It might just be CC being weird, but it most definetly has something to do with my mod.

And yes, i did try taking it to the extremes. I loaded up my medium guy with THREE
of every weapon. He came out just fine, albeit a bit heavily.

Also, on a side note, the Pelian Army (http://www.datarealms.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=61&t=11101) has been updated, so now you can screw
around with the Heavy Soldier :0 (SUUUUUMO BODYSLAAAAAM)
Also a few other neat thingies...

@metal chao: Looks nice, but as you've mentioned several thousand times, the
sprites are placeholders, and therefore not exactly top-quality...
But the main minus in my book (This be personal preference) is that, well, they're
cheap and not very durable, from what i've read. And with me being a sore loser
who doesn't like dying all the time... :/
I'll hold back my actual opinions 'till later though, when it's more finished and stuff.

I don't particularly want to start it before I have some good sprites for it (Although I might have to) but there's a tougher armoured suit in the making.

Also CC just crashes randomly for me, I'm not sure if it's anything to do with what actors are holding or anything.
Maybe it is though, it doesn't happen often enough for me to bother recording what was going on.

I loaded him up with 20 grenades, threw some, waited 5 minutes, nothing. Threw some
more, waited some more, nothing. Threw the rest, waited again, nothing.

Firstly, open the desired mod folder. I'll be using the Pelian Army as an example...
So go to Cortex Command/PelianArmy.rte, and open up Index.ini with Wordpad/whatever text program.

It should be placed above Activities.ini, but below everything else, like this:

and then Activities.ini, which is too big for me to paste in.

So now we've got that aside, we'll want to have a Pelian soldier come down with
a dropship, carrying a few weapons... So now we just change a few names here and there...

So now we have a Pelian Medium Soldier coming down with a dropship, who carries

to the very end of Activities.ini, save changes and run the game. Oh shit! Game crashed!
Well, that's because Cortex Command doesn't like to have Base.rte to load materials
from the outside. So what we do is to make it so that it doesn't load it from the
outside, but from the inside. We do this by adding the materials to Materials.ini
inside Base.rte.
Firstly, open Materials.ini in PelianArmy.rte, which should look somewhat like this:
AddMaterial = Material
Index = 19 <--- Note the indexes!
InstanceName = Tough Carbon
... <--- Snipped to avoid taking up too much space

AddMaterial = Material
Index = 20
InstanceName = Carbon

AddMaterial = Material

Leave it open. Now go to Base.rte, and open the Materials.ini in there.
Find this section:

Now replace that section with all the materials from the Pelian Army. Save and close.
Now open up Index.ini in Base.rte, and remove this line:

Save and close. Now run the game again. It should work, if i'm not entirely wrong.
Do tell if it doesn't.

Mac is terrible for gaming, if you want to play video games, get Windows. You made the choice to use a Mac and subsequently made the choice to not play games. Drop it.

Just because you spoiled asses have unfunny commercials that you think are true does not make it so, PC > Mac in (just about) every way, and you'll have to learn to accept that gaming and compatability are just a couple of them.
If you have a PowerPC, you only get the really bad emulators that can't run CC.

Also, a few quotes of me in my topic of a couple of things i've planned.

So yeah, i'm not sure what will be in the next major update. Possibly some
weapons at least (Designator maybe), and if i can overcome my laziness,
a big-ass robot might be coming even later. This said robot actually appeared to
me in a dream, and i kind of liked how it looked, so now it's stuck in my memory xP
In the dream, the robot was large enough to swallow a man whole (Frankly, that's
what it did, but hey), but i guess that making it so big would take forever to do.
So i'll probably stick to something in the range of the MPAM, possibly a tad smaller.
Maaaaaaybeeee i can get some horribly looking concept "art" done, but don't expect
anything. Chances are that i'll be doing something else instead.

You mean like, making an Activities.ini from a mod work? If that's the case, it's simple.
Go to Base.rte and comment out (// in front of the line) Activities.ini, and uncomment
the mods activities if necessary.

No, no it isn't. We're still on the backup server i think. I may be entirely wrong though.

Also, something REALLY fudging annoying just happened a few minutes ago. I got
a like, 5 minute response from Data about my key getting reset (Awesome), but
when i quit CC to set my starting gold up high, BOOM! Unregistered. So now i have
to get it reset again, all because Vista is so fudging paranoid.

Somethin' up with Datarealms.com (Not offtopic because this is the CC website, it also has mods on the forums)

It won't load up, as in,

1. I type in www.datarealms.com
2. Press enter
3. Goes to AOL search automatically searching "www.Datarealms.com"
4. I click the first link (Goes to Data Realms)
5. Repeats 3-4

Does it load for you?
Why is this happening again?!?!?!

It's the M.A.R.S.*, which basically is the giant mecha/robot of the Pelian Army.
Incredibly expensive (It's going to be 2000 oz, biatch!), but also incredibly tough.
I have yet to make any weapons for it, but no worries, they're coming, and they're
going to be no less than overpowered.
Also, please don't ask for beta testing, thanks. I know you're eager to try it (Well, maybe
not, but hey), but it isn't fully functional yet. Well, it is, but not exactly the way
i want it to.

It's a super unit, what do you expect? :P
But believe me, i've seen this guy headbutting a dropship directly with so much
force that the dropship blew up instantly, but his head remained intact. So yeah. Tough.
You aren't going to get a unit of that caliber easily or cheaply.
Also, finished one of its guns, which is a machine cannon.

That was what i thought, and it did turn out to be a challenge, mainly because of
the scale of everything. Spriting a 76x22 pix. weapon takes a lot longer than a
25x9, for instance.
Walkpaths were a pain in the arse as well, as i've never really tried them before.

oh yeah, the bombardment rifle: you should delete the laser, when you destroy the gun the laser stays there as an solid material, and i tell you i don't like some red line stickin out of the ground

Game owns. I played it like 4 months ago and I hated it, because it was so hard for me to control for some reason. Playing again made me realise it was an awesome game. Freaking gibbing and such. Also.. Does this have ragdolls? o_O

On the Data Realms main page you can see Data getting a headshot on a Skelly which then ragdolls the best way particle physics can handle it, and it falls off of a ladder unit.

Yeah, it's pretty nasty when more than one MARS is on your ass at once, but
there isn't really anything i can do to prevent it :P

the gun should be resprited, and i think it would look better as a minigun (now it's just a stick looking gun that shoots bullets :/)
