Anyways, for those of you who didn't notice, i made an AK-47 with a working
laser bayonet... The bayonet doesn't look too cool, but hey, it's pretty hard to
make a decent looking laser mount which is 1 pixel high :P

Impact grenade hits ground, and gibs into a pinned actor.
Pinned actor has an emitter attached, which fires either TDExplosives or actors,
both with attached fire emitter/thruster.
In case of TDExplosive, set the timer to something reasonable, and have it blow
up in a neat, glowy explosion.
In case of actor, make the emitter do damage to the actor, effectively making
it a time bomb, or set an emitter which will burst after x amount of time.
Both cases should make a neat, glowy explosion.

Sounds feasible, aye?

whether one likes it or not.
I'm not sure i can pull myself together to make the mod anyways, 'cause my modding
spirit has been very fluctuating lately.

Make it a low velocity bullet out of a gun only the gun breaks after you fire it and you only get one ammo per clip and the reload time is insanely high.(just as a failsafe.)

I'm busy right now, but I might try cracking it again later. I've heard it uses Yoda's Protector 1.20 which an unpacker can be found on google. In conjunction with PEiD it might be possible.

Question. As I am still functioning on my backup pc (tomorrow my pc is at full recovery due to failed HD) will the new build make build 19 mods not work? Would they need to be converted in any way or do they still work with build 20?

Anyways, i have some good mods to suggest.

Security Camera: a little glitchy but purely awesome too.

Dreadnought Cannon: Cool, and it looks like it should be an official expansion. it fits with the colors of the coalition too.

Frag robot: It looks very nice and its dangerous, but not dangerous enough to blow up the world.

Sniper Rifle: Very cool and fun to use.

That is a custom mod failing on you. There is no problem with a clean installation of build 20.

Try deleting the bomb.rte folder.

Yeah, many people noticed that i forgot to remove a dependency of
Bombs.rte... I intend to fix it ASAP, but i'd like to hear if there is anything
else i've forgotten...

Edit: For now, just go to the Index.ini and accent out the Bombs Part 3...
You'll be missing some bombs, but it'll work. (Accenting out is when you
place two slashes in front of the line)

Still, you technically don't need to 'crack' it at this point. Just remove the timer, and that has been done by various people. I mean, you can use mods in the demo of B20, right?

Good point there, if you edit Activities.ini so death mode spawns like 1000 ships in a second, most of the ships destroy each other. And when there are not enough ships to do that it is usually too easy...

Thank you for agreeing! I hope in the next update of the marvelous game that is called cortex command there is an in-game ability to modify things.
As an example, you are fighting and across your brain comes an idea, wouldent this be easier with this shotgun shooting rockets? So with the in-game ability, you could pause the skirmish, and edit the weapon to shoot a rocket!:D It would be neat if a shotgun could shoot a rocket...or a drop ship... or it could spew coalition body parts!...ewww...ayway I just think that would be a good idea.:D

Ask numgun to use the gravity hammer as a base. I'm not sure what happens to fleshes when they hit the hammer, but if a dummy hits the outer field it'll get ripped apart.
EDIT:If a fleshy hits the outer field he'll get ripped apart into a bloody pile of flesh. If the hammer hits them when it's going, your gonna get a shower of blood, but they won't explode.

Right now i'm more like, working on fireballs... Pyromania ftw @_@
But where i'm stuck is at some kind of cosmic fireball... It works fine and all that,
but it just refuses to come down vertically, and also to actually come above the
point of the calling projectiles impact... If you fire (And hit) horizontally, it might
actually come down in the vicinity of the designated area, but else it just crashes
down a totally random place in the map, causing nuclear-scale destruction...
A shame, i put a lot of work in that weapon :/ (It was also inspired by the Ypsilons
way of triggering)
It'd be bloody awesome if i could fix it though, it has given me more than one headache... *Rubs head*

So anyways, the pack has a little bit of everything... A pistol, a rifle, a cannon,
a rapid-fire cannon/Autocannon, an airstrike and a throwable fireball...
Airstrike AKA Cosmic Fireball is bugging me though ಠ_ಠ

Fireballs are medieval? Psh, thou hast not seen the guns, knave! :P
These are not ye olde wizard balls o' fire, these be nasty, bouncy fireballs of death,
being shot out of indestructible, orange-tinted guns. And believe me, they are lethal
to get hit by. Even the pistol tends to kill instantly, due to dismemberment and decapitation...
The bigger guns can easily kill you as well, should you be stupid enough to use them
at close range combat... Even mid-range is dangerous if you use the cannon :3

Also, if one makes a sucky (...) weapon, it's more likely that it'll just break people
apart than actually suck them in ._. (Black hole is a perfect example of this)

Well, since Build 20 allowed for mods in the trial, just dump the rte folder in your
Cortex Command folder... (Not in Base.rte)

After most of a month of recurring fevers and aches, it turns out I’ve probably got viral meningitis. It could have been much much worse (bacterial version), but it still hasn’t been good for productivity.

However, we are working on things that should improve Cortex Command in a couple of big ways over the next several builds:

Lua scripting. We are finally starting to integrate proper scripting into the engine. At first, it will only handle game logic for scenes, so scenarios and events during missions can easily be set up in external script files and not be hardcoded. Eventually, we hope to expose AI and other actor behaviors as well, so you can literally make your own AI modes - with control all the way down to how the AI guys look, aim, and shoot.
The current data files will still be left intact, and the script files are just be added and referred to by the object definitions in the existing data files.

Completely new license scheme. No more asking us to reset keys when you forget to unregister before reformatting your computer. You’ll be able to do it yourself. Also, we will be offering new methods of payment, which hopefully will better accommodate folks in countries with weaker currencies and less access to credit cards.
Don’t worry, we will make sure that all current license owners will have an extremely easy time transferring their keys to the new system when we roll it out.

So anyways, i've got a new gun here with me that needs beta testing...
Killa is already on the "Send to" list (If he wants to), since he didn't get to test last time :P
The weapon is the "Slammer" Rifle... It's a huge rifle-like weapon that uses a MASSIVE
explosive charge to propel a tiny, but extremely heavy particle forwards at high speeds...
However, it's not a very sharp particle, so it just tends to unload all (Or just a lot)
of its kinetic energy to the unfortunate victim who happens to be at the wrong
side of the gun, often resulting in immediate dismemberment or decapitation.
Skellies are sort of resistant to this effect, due to the weak material they're made of.
The shot usually passes right through them, but if they're carrying a shield, shoot it.
The sheer impact of the projectile will smash the shield into their body with such
an amount of force that it EXPLODES INTO A MILLION PIECES! True story O_o
So, who's up? :3 (And yes, it is safe to use with an ordinary guy, he won't explode)
And thanks to Grif for the sprite, i just had to shrink it a bit.

No offence, but i just have a hard time understanding how it can be so difficult
to extract a file into a directory... Just open the file with WinRAR, and extract
to "C:/Program Files/Data Realms/Cortex Command/" or wherever you installed it to.
It's nothing more than that.

Releasing a mod like that is like spraying nitroglycerine into a raging inferno.
In other words, people would not only flame it, but also EXPLODE it.

I too spend much of my hard earned cash on the videogame industry. I am not a rich man but I like to think that by spending money on the games I love, they will contine and be improved. I have to choose which games to spend my money on and when im broke, im broke. If you dont want to spend 20 bucks on an "Alpha" then dont, you can still play it for free. Just dont be a jackass and rip off someone who has put a lot of hard work into a great title. :o

No, that's not going to happen.

LUA does not remotely means "We can make nonlaggy online play".
It doesn't even mean "We can make online play".

So far all that has been confirmed is "We can make better scenes".


I have no idea why you thought LUA would allow us to implement online play...

But that doesn't mean you can create online games. The fact is the CC is programmed in a programming language, and they will edit the code of the game to support LUA in scene editing. If they wanted to make it online, it would be hard-coded into the game, not made with LUA.

I think I Have the greatest mod/scene idea ever

ok, it takes place, on The MOON, or a moon (because they are awesome), night/day cycle (when data gives animated bgs), and every 6 minutes, a meteor hits the battle field, and crush anything below, and explode into napalm, killing everyone near the blast radius. and every 24 minutes, a lazor cannon shoots a giant beam, and explodes. and every 30-60 minutes (depending on what you want) a storm of cosmic fireballs (shook's (lul) fireball.) massively Anihalation out, rockets, humans, crabs, dropship, doors! :eek: but brains (depending on which brain you use, or where)and indoor creatures will most likely be shielded by concrete (because as far as i remember, cosmic fireballs don't do terrain destroying.)teh lazor cannot pwn concrete, neither can the meteor or napalm



Oh, and Btw, may i have your ghost clone (shook buddy?)

How do you propose mods will work on multiplayer then? No mods makes it boring. Downloading mods when joining the game opens up opportunities for conflicting instance names.

Lag doesn't matter if you get "Error on line 19 of GenericAK47Mod.rte/device.ini" and the game crashes.

Even if you played with mods there would be problems. I mean come on, one uber mod to the enemy's base and bam, the game has lasted 5 seconds. What I am trying to say is that if there were mods, then someone could use an uber mod to win in 5 seconds.

new weapons... The G.P.G.L. (General Purpose Grenade Launcher) amongst them.
I also made an entirely new weapon for the Laser Bayonet, but it seems that the
said weapon tends to freeze up my game at seemingly random times :/

Well, currently there is no new things that haven't been beta tested already,
and i haven't made any new actors either. But no worries, there's a high chance
of my mod pack getting updated today or tomorrow.
You'll get the next one though ;)
As for the medieval lance... No progress :/
I've been giving it some thoughts, but i think that making it lethal only on the
tip would be quite hard to do if the "lethality zone" shouldn't go past the sprite.
I suppose i could make it "Hollow", by making the middle of the sprite into a GetsHitByMOs = 0
attachment, and then put an emitter in there, but i do fear that complications will arise...

But the main problem is that the lance has to be "active" at all times, requiring
no input from the user. In reality, you don't have to press a button to make your
lance kill enemies y'know :P

Well, here's how I think the spear works

1.it "shoots" invisible particles
2.Has massive recoil, tossing it (it's an hdfirearm)
3.The velocity of the throw will kill.

But, there's a force to be reconed with.
It's the ability for AI to pick weapons up lightning fast.
so sometimes, when you throw a spear at the AI, It'll catch it.

Well it has pixel physics, rigid body physics (rockets, gibs etc.), ragdolls, bullet trajectory (since it's a pixel itself) and liquid in some (special) scenes. Tell me if I have forgotten anything.

You should really try it yourself. You will see the nice physics. ;)

Well, more grenades for the G.P.G.L. are coming, and also possibly the Vortex Bomb/Grenade,
descriped by numgun here:
I remember when FarvanTorna did his blackhole grenade that caused an ever expanding vortex if you shot at the grenade more. (Increasing amount of wounds = more emission = bigger vortex)

The when you put 2 of those and make the vortex overlap each other of the blackholes, it will start growing insanely unstable and grow even bigger, without any shooting at the grenades.

I loved that mod. Laggy, but interesting.
Maybe also the Smasher Auto Cannon, but that one's primarily made for fighting
the DarKlones, what with their heavy armor...
Possibly more, but i need moar ideas D:

Reflective Rocket? Pretty easy, but a metric fuck-ton of respriting. If needed, that is.
Shook gun? How the hell am i supposed to mimic an earthquake? O_o
Shook mech? Umm... I can't sprite that well, i fear...
Mech weapons? Same as above, i can't sprite large-scale things :/
Magician? Quite possible, but spriting's a problem, as usual.

I might get around to making some of them, but you shouldn't be expecting a mech :P
