here is my new idea, NO bashing please.
ok this game is called The Stick Revolution
The idea:
ok im still in the thinking of the game but its about a .....well....a stick revolution. My idea for the game is alot like Ragdoll Masters but its online!
The details:
Theire is red stick people with hats, and blue people with hats. they start on two sides on the level then they wil run into each other! You would unlock wepons like a rifle,beaonet rifle, and a knive. Theire would be other levels like a big level with hills and like buildings to go into and alot of other levels. theire could be a custom level editer and you would be able to create your own levels and fight in them. And a costom match were you get to pick the amount of players, teams, and wepons. You would use the arow keys to move and the mouse to fire your wepon
The concept:
my concept of this game is a Counter Strike with the Revolutionary War and stick people!
So tell me what you think :)
ps.theire is going to be gravity so you can't fly
pss.the knives and guns would be atached to your legs

Beside the fact that 3D ragdolls would create havoc with lag, it's a pretty good idea. It would be better off as 2D, with maze-like levels.
Also...why would the knives be attached to your LEGS? Why not your arms?

Take this to Ragdoll soft, they would be the only to actually have time and knowledge to complete this as a decent game, or if a good coder with the source from ragdoll masters could create som kind of mod...

As a sidenote, the game idea sounds pretty good.

Hmm. It should have a physics enviornment like crates and poles. Oh, and they should be able to pick up weapons the find on the ground.

I say not to send it. They'll probably reject it and say it isn't good enough. If you guys are serious, I could probably code it using ODE and some ragdoll source.
My basic idea would be something like a Toribash in 2D. Meaning, every, say, 20 frames, the game pauses and you have x amount of time to make your moves. That would be drag and drop.
Meaning to punch from a normal position, you click on the arm, and drag it back (it'll leave a trail), then suddenly change direction and move towards the target.
Also, this is kind of like Ragdoll Fighters, but uses pauses so it isn't overly complicated. And. Right-clicking/dragging would be things like grabbing, so you could, basically use objects, and pick up weapons with hands, teeth, feet, ...crotch...etc.
It wouldn't be that hard to code. If I ever manage to get to understand how to create a world in ODE, and get a free graphics engine. :/

I'm already doing something similar with my 2d engine - kinda like worms with ragdoll & rb physics. No hats though ;)

Actually, I know about how much it'd take until I could release a starting alpha, with ragdolls, and a rudimentary start of the control system. Like, maybe 2 weeks...spring break rocks. Er, that is, considering I manage to get ODE running. :\

Cheddar, from that really...strange...request about the rubber ducky-catapult-game thing, and the argument it sparked, it seemed like you'd be "unhealthy" to this forum and that first impression kind of made me not like you. But I have to say, this actually sounds like it could be made.
Seriously though, who on earth can shoot a gun with their toes? Guns on the feet doesn't sound to good...
Also, how big are the teams?

Don't take offense, but these ideas are a dime a dozen, and I don't think another developer would take on your idea when they could come up with one themselves. Thousands of game enthusiasts out there have their minds bursting with cool ideas, and either start developing themselves, or assemble teams, but the vast majority of them ultimately fail at making their games, because their ambitions far outweigh their abilities and experience.
The key is to start simple, and learn. Choose a game development platform or programming language, and learn the absolute basics! Forget ragdolls and weapons, just attempt very very simple things, and achieve them. You will gain an understanding of what you really need to know to make a game, and what you're capable of. Then one day, when you've managed to get the basic mechanics of your game working, you can start setting your sights on the content and gameplay.
I'm not condemning you, I'm encouraging you! Learn how to make games, so you can one day turn your ideas into a reality. Until then, though, don't think having an idea is enough to make a game happen. I've tried, it doesn't work ;)
[For the record, it wasn't long ago I was just an enthusiastic kid wanting to make games. I got deeply into the clickteam products (the games factory, click&create mainly, and later multimedia fusion) and I eventually got really comfortable in those programs, even making working physics, characters on hoverboards, accurate collision detection against bitmaps, lots of stuff... and yet, in all the time I was making those games, I practically never finished one. I was so caught up in making my games do amazing and cool things that I never simply set a realistic and simple goal for a game and finished it.]

Well, if you have any experience with ODE and can help me, as soon as I get ODE to run. I don't understand the manual unfortunately, and my compiler keeps giving me an error I don't understand. :/
Probably because I never actually LEARNED C, but I learned-as-I-go.

Sorry for going off topic, but I would like to ask what programming language I should start with to create a game (3d, 2d, preferably 3d). I am currently only learning some python in my free time (I have since only programmed a simple Mathematical caculating program).
Since some of the people here are game creators, I was wondering what language did you start with? I will eventually move to C++ though, I'm using python only as a stepping stone. All replies are appreciated.

I like it... But... Umm... A couple of things. First of all if the controls are going to be like ragdoll masters, the whole point is that you can fly so a strong gravity will just be crap.
Secondly, why put the guns and weapons on their feet, i say have it like in their arms or even their heads.

Ok you can have the gravity however you want it im just trying to be creative.
I wish i had cheese.
But anyways the game will have people have guns on theire legs so you can have range. Im trying to say if you do front flips/back flips they will be on your legs so you can get better atacks in.
ps, if i killed a few cats im sorry im tired right now

Sure, I'll see if I can dig something up! It'll all be packed away on an old backup CD somewhere but I'm sure I've kept all those. I'll keep you posted.

Ok i got the idea, now we need a team. Ok I was thinking on sending this to Cronic Logic, but that's not going to happen, the only games they have is two versions of bridge builder. Well anyways Ragdoll Soft would be our best shot to make this game the way i want it to be. also i making some screen shots for the game, i hope you like them.
