I've had 1nsane for as long as I can remember, and i'm not denying it has great physics in it, but if you want car deformatation... Carmageddon II is the only way forward.

I love 1NSANE, I had it for many years! And it's amazing how good it is for being from 2000.

I downloaded this game, and it rox.
Its physics are about as good, if not better, than rigs of rods.
And since it simulates the vehicles as several attached pieces (Cab, Bed, All the axels and wheels), it doesnt need a supercomputer to run it.
(I know because I happen to own a supercomputer and i can run rigs of rods at about 30 fps on all max) But this game is so much more fun
And yes, the physics and the graphics are great for 2000

Oh yeah, Mafia was a little masterpiece of a game. The physics were indeed done very well, almost thread worthy I'd say :p One of the few games of the time to have the attention to detail that it did. Tires could be shot out, with enough damage wheels could come off.. the cars all behaved extremely believably, which is impressive considering those old cars are ricketier and have a lot more character than modern cars which run a lot smoother and seem to get away with a much simpler simulation of movement.

methinks the main reason the download isn't working is possibly due to a C&D letter that the folks who were hosting the file might have received, due to the fact that codemasters still has this game for sale on their site. So yeah, word to the wise and all that, if you find a "full" version of this game, it might not be considered ethical to download, so heads up.

I loved that game. The only thing that was even mildly annoying was that the cars on the street sucked. Hard core. It would take forever to find a decent one in a garage or parking area.
