You know how some forums have different ranks, for example, there's a Postal 2 forum. Hardly any posts = Indecent exposer, and a lot of posts = Massive shovel genocide.. It's kinda useless but pretty fun, like on the top left instead of Junior member or something, there could be like a Ragdoll Destroyer rank or something, lol.

Theres no different between junior members, members and senior members. Its just the number of posts.

My point exactly
So why should the number of posts be made to mean something more?
P.S, I like the way Carl is now Santa, meaning that that's the original of all those pictures

Yeah. And that's the reason ranks etc suck. After ranks comes the post whores. "Yay me has a biggerest rank than j00", so it would only add offtopicness or something and so on etc.
So no... PLOOOXZOR no ranks

I don't mean like you should judge people like that, maybe it could be a description kinda thing, except not the one you can edit

I think that there should be a feature where you can give other people titles, but not edit your own. And since everyone wold have access to everyone else's titles, there would be no point in making it "n00b-idiot" because someone would change it soon. Yay community-building!
Barring that, there should at least be a title for the moderators.

How about, when you get to a set number of posts, you get a title.
Now you all may think "WTF!? We've been talking about that for the past posts!"
Here's the catch.
The MODS get to assign your name depending on what you've been doing the most. IE If you've been offering more help, reviewing/critiscizing games, posting games, you'd get a rank accordingly.
Therefore its personalised and is just.
(Also, spammers don't get there names immediately. Or they get a name like "SPAM LORD")
May seem like a waste of time, but it could be fun.
Or just a poll in user pages with set choices.

I'm really averse to the idea of more detailed ranks on the forum, even if there were an automated system for creating them. It rubs the egalitarian part of me the wrong way -- status symbols are something I'm not too fond of. Here and on 1UP, I only keep an image in my sig so that people can recognize me as someone that will answer their newbie questions and such.
That's just my two cents, though... in the end, I think that it might require a much larger groundswell of support and Matthew's willingness to set up such a system.

As if I had the power to create it. I'm personally not an off-topic kind of guy -- but that's not to say I'm "right", because there's no right or wrong to it. I like messageboards as a way for people to come together over specific things, and if I make a few friends in the process then I'll probably chat with them elsewhere (Steam chat, AIM, what have you). I respect that not everyone (probably not even the majority) feel the same way.
At any rate, it's out of my hands. If Matthew feels that it'd be worth his time and bandwidth to provide an OT section for the forum (and that it wouldn't detract from the games-related sections), so be it.

Back to the titles.
As I just realized, thinking back after reading this topic, that most forums that allows you to make your own title up, doesn't have issues with "Superiority". But with set posts and rankings...this causes problems.

A rating system would be nice, like the one in Facepunch.
