Hi i'm looking for some good textures artists to help me get the feel of my game Sphere right. If any of you could help out i would much appreciate it. Atm i am adding more of the modular levels sections that are placed together by the level designers. The problem is all the 3D sections i make are bland and boring, i could really do with a good concept artist and texture artists giving me some input, it would really help.

I have recently heard about Marble Blast Ultra which is being made in torque i believe, and they are releasing it for the X-box 360.

http://inspiredev.files.wordpress.com/2007/04/marble-blast-ultra-on-torque-x-1.jpg

I kinda want to get a similar feel to this without completely ripping it off, so to speak. I can model all the stuff we see in the pic above, but instead of that i would prefer to get a couple of good concept artists to help me in the process of modeling more level sections. Will also be needing some good texture artists. I can't offer to pay anyone yet, but i'm sure we could strike up a deal on a royalty percentage.

Look forward to hearing from anyone.

Woah, Torque looks amazing! I hope you find someone to help you, it'll really improve on sphere's status if it gets some decent textures.

The ones that I PM'ed you earlier. This should be good for the marbles texture; here (http://www.terathon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=3588) and also here (http://www.terathon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=3661)

There are really some good ones you should have a look at here (http://www.terathon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=3583)

The techno pack also looks like it would suit some part of Sphere.

These are not my textures, these are free and have no copyright laws.

I did try those textures but they are in a weird format aren't they?

Sounds interesting, you don't happen to have hosting do you?

They are in .tex. If you would like me two I can preview them in C4, then Print Screen them and save them as something such as a png.

Just tell me what pack you would like me to do.

Ok well that's no problem as i was gonna get my own hosting anyway, if you could help me out with web design that would be awsome.

It's cool man, i'll wait and see if i can get some texture artists first, will save you going through the trouble of all that, when i may not even use them :P but thnx anyways.

I like the 2nd one, it's kinda more fitting in with what i'm trying to do. If you got anymore like that, it would be cool.

Hardhead have a go at making some i'll let you know if they are what i am loooking for, even tho i don't really know what i'm looking for, i will just know when i see something :P

I'm making them as I go along so just say what colours and styles and stuff you want and I'll do it

edit: for example a kinda scratched blue metallic tile (maybe a mirrorball texture for the ball?)
also, a purple soft looking one

I like that glassy type one :) . If anyone has played WoW then i kinda want a feel similar to that, kinda serious textures but cartoony at the same time if that makes sense.

this is rather off topic, but Marble Blast Ultra is already out, and though it has good shading and physics and stuff, it gets REALLY boring REALLY fast.

Cool, i've not been paying to much attention to the status of the game tbh but cool if it's out. I guess it's what your into, there is a big market for games like this, i am targeting the casual gaming market.

What would you say they could have done to keep you interested for longer? Or what didn't you like about it? The answer to this question might help me to make mine better.

Marble Blast Ultra is actually my favourite XBL Arcade game, it has great and clear looking visuals and fun levels.

It is really missing a map editor and it would be a bit better if there was more than one dynamic body in the levels.

Cool, i've not played it but it's good to hear a good report about it :P

I think I know what you mean
cartoon images on high quality textured surfaces?

like this?

Crackdown matches the type of cartoonish yet goof looking texture thing.

If you played the proper game the textures really look good yet it is in a cartoonist style at the same time.

I think I know what he means
for example look at his photo in his first post
there are bright green concentric circles - cartoony
but they look like they're painted on to concrete - realistic

is that right?

I wish, GIMP had some textures...

oh, wait a moment

I LOVE OPEN SOURCE

you can do that, right?

edit: no, but I found a tutorial
