And I also think what I just said will be most of the future posts in this thread.

Well, this thread may live forever... especially when Gish is out :)
I hope it will have a friendly editor and versus (coop too!) mode via internet/lan and not only on the same computer...
Btw, i reinstalled Gish and try to pass some custom levels that i didn't manage to back then... I still can't figure out what to do on the Cube level :o
I pray that it has a proper co-op mode... Unfortunately "proper" means doing all the levels so that you must actually co-operate to complete them (Many FPSs have co-op, but none actually require you to co-operate... The only truly Co-operative game I can think of is Four Swords adventures), and this means doing two sets of levels, which means lots of extra work :/
I can still hope though can't I?

I think it's silly to make a thread about a game where all you know is that it will be released at some point. There is nothing to discuss right now...

what about Splinter Cell...or the future game Army of Two (i can only predict that it has "proper" co-op but is already known to have co-op)

Faikon, because we don't know anything about the game except some artwork, doesn't mean we don't have any thoughts around it. That's why the thread started - say what we would like to see in game, see others' ideas etc... To make the waiting painless, especially for the big fans :D
Btw, the only coop game i played that was more than "lets go kill some guys together, but i can kill them alone too", was SplinterCell3's coop mode... Impossible to finish the lvl if one of the team was... well, not cooperative at all ;)
And Gish can be a great coop game with puzzles that need two players - a simple way of doing that at its base is buttons that must be pressed at the same time and no blocks available to put over :D

Is it just me or is it not all that different. I mean, yeah, some better graphics, but I find the gameplay more important than the graphics...
I'm gonna wait for another few videos before I make an opinion since this video only showed the graphics, and a bit of physics (jumping and sticking and such
, but didn't show rigid body physics)
I also saw two blobs in two points in the video...
soad667

Bump............
Gish2's page (http://www.gish2.com/) has been updated with a teaser of one of the bosses (i guess ;))
Plus, at their blog, they say that they're working on outdoor lightning and day/night cycles. I hope that soon there will be a video or some kind of Q&A about the actual gameplay elements and game's physics system/puzzles...
Maybe Matt can have an interview with them? Since it's been a long time since F-M had an interview of some kind. Just an idea ;)

Actually, there is nothing about gameplay elements, but as Edmund promised, this will shed some light in Gish2's dark story
God of the Dead becomes even scarier, very Lovecraft-like...
Waiting for more trailers/info... anything. They seem very optimistic about releasing it in 2008, lets hope everything goes fine and they keep it that way.

I hope they will enlighten us in the next update. But i have high hopes for an editor. They did the... mistake and gave it with the first Gish - they can't take back a... lovely feature like this so easily

The game is too tiley to not have a level editor.
What we really need, though, is Gish 3D.

What we really need, though, is Gish 3D.
Well, i can't say i really want to see a 3D version, at least for now. I mean, it's a really unique platform game and has many more things to show (their ideas for Gish2 are... limitless - hope they put it all inside) before start thinking alternative methods (like a 3D version) to make something new/different...
Think of Worms. When they took the step to 3D (i was curious how this'll turn out, but never had high hopes), it came out not so well...
Btw, my personal most wanted feature is, except the editor, an online multiplayer (not only splitscreen) and especially a coop mode. I would never expect from them to add a coop, but with the mobile version already have it, that's enough - the idea is in their head and i wouldn't be surprised if they put it in Gish 2...
Anyway, great expectations, lets wait and see

In my opinion the game would become complicated and possibly even frusrating. Adding another dimension adds complexity and can ruin simple fun (see soad667's Worms post)

Agreed, we might as well have Cortex Command 3D (wtf?).

Deathmatch would be fun, slamming your gish's into other gishes.
Another idea that would be cool is Gish for your Ipod, or phone or something like that.

I sent an email to Edmund before a couple of hours, hope he shed some light about it...
I don't believe at all they'll abandon it. Three options are there for me...
- It simply expired and they didn't notice it.
- Just a server problem.
- They're preparing for an update or something.
I surely want to be the third option, but i'm gonna stick with the first.
When i get an answer, i'll share the... knowledge with you.
Haha, look at what it is now. One of those stupid sites. It's funny what sites turn into after they're gone...I've seen them turn into porn sites, or sites for..."Viagra for Women". I think it just expired and they didn't notice it.

I've never seen a dead site turn into a porn site. :V
It happens a lot, probably because the porn sites know people will go to the site for the actual product...and get surprised with whatever they choose...
A good example of this is the Codename Gordon site, you guys know that game? The shitty metal slug of HL2? Ever wonder why it got removed from Steam? They ran out of funding and their site got bought out by a porn/hentia site so Valve was forced to remove it...

Maybe they're not at their best regarding money etc and spend their time on less consuming projects to have some profit.
Gish 2 sounds like a big project and if they have financial problems, it's not the best choice to work exclusively on it.
That Cry for Help (http://crypticsea.blogspot.com/2008/11/my-cd-is-out_06.html) recently posted by Edmund, brought me closer to this conclusion.

The best thing they can do is declare the game dead, until they get their hands again on it. It must be really annoying to work on something else (another little gem, Ed has his way to be involved in unique games) and watch people ignoring that or use it as an excuse to ask about Gish 2 for one more time.
Btw, in a Cryptic Sea's blog post, besides news about No Quarter, there was a beautiful line:
"Gish 2 won't be out until next year, deal with it."
I believe that says a lot...

I don't think they have any reason to keep an abandoned project on the Cryptic Sea's site. The generic message "Release: Later" indicates that it's on hold. It looks obvious to me, he wants people to understand that he works on other projects now and not on Gish 2.

Allow me to trust CrypticSea's blog/website. Since they still have it on their "not yet released" titles and they mentioned many times that "Gish2 is on hold until NQ is done", "Gish2 won't be out until next year (2010), deal with it", "Gish2 uses a lot of the tech that's in NQ, so we're still going the right way" etc. If Gish 2 officially dies, i'm sure they'll announce it. They won't expect a random forum to spread the news.
EDIT: Quite some time ago, i asked Edmund a quick question about Gish2, while sending some feedback for NQ's beta. I got the answer that he's focused on NQ and SMB right now, but he never said something about abandoning the project. I could take "sadly no longer" as an "on hold" that lasted a bit more than they expected. But not as "it's dead" at all.
